is this kid really trying to get out of this bet? it's pretty obvious to me vegas is the winner. seems like searles angle shot himself in the foot.

Here is my take on this:

Let me start by saying I have only had good interactions with JSearles on here, and I don't know Vegas much at all. AND this whole thing is quite stupid since many people type and spell based on their accent and pronounciation of words, so then for than isn't really a big deal and doesn't mean he doesn't know the difference. For instance, I speak fast and often type 'your' when the word I'm looking for is 'you're' because thats how I say it (I never make the reverse mistake though because I don't pronounce 'You Are'). So Searles should haved simply laughed this off. That said, here we are....

The initial spirit of the bet was regarding his use of the word 'then' instead of 'than' or vice versa. I think everyone can agree on this.

This post by Vegas can be interpreted both ways, but it was made after the terms for the initial bet were already being determined:

As a conscripted judge :) my ruling would be that Vegas won the bet, but perhaps there is some room for lowering the amount of the bet on a technicality?

Little off topic currently Searles (actually the main topic) but I just stomped some guys throat for $2200 and my roll is around 14k on my stake. I could quit playing now would that mean your experiment is a failure?

Damn it Steve-O, why did you weigh in before you could be accepted as a fair and impartial judge?

The first level headed person to weigh in acknowledges that the bet can be interpreted multiple ways. Although he ultimately sides with Vegas, he attempts to mitigate the loss amount by acknowledging that the bet was not clear and concise per both parties.

The fact of the matter is that I accepted the bet on the premise that both words would be used in the same post as this is precisely what was offered. Steve-O acknowledges that this is a legit interpretation.

Druff, T-bags, Shaun Deeb, etc please weigh in so I can make my decision and get this thing ended.

This isn't "exactly" what I'm saying; I don't think you won the bet, and I don't think the bet should be voided. The intent of the bet was pretty clear from the outset, and since the bet was incredibly stupid (on both sides) to begin with I don't see why a compromise cannot be reached where Vegas wins the bet, but for a reduced amount.

Maybe Vegas could explain the amount of time he put into researching this and we could come to a reasonable payment amount for his troubles?

I'd like to hear from Vegas and JSearles on what they feel the "right" outcome for this wager is, then we could send it to arbitration
