Two very, very different messages. The first was likely to go over well with working class whites, and indeed they took to it very well. The second would not have gone over well.

There isn’t a single MAGA voter that would object if Trump came out and said we need to raise taxes on the ultra wealthy to help wealth disparity. They’d cheer just like they’d cheer if he said we need to cut their taxes.

The MAGA die hards that voted Obama certainly didn’t become Republicans. The country MAGA types voted Republican, just at a much lower rate.

Now that Trump has fed them protectionist anti-intervention talk for 4 years, to what degree they participate going forward will be dependent on the candidate.

few weeks ago, some reports claimed that Steve Bannon, the White House Chief Strategist, supports a top tax rate of 44 percent on taxpayers earning more than $5 million. While this proposal was quickly batted down by the White House, it is still worth taking a look at.

This was the probably the core of the split. Bannon designed MAGA and got Trump installed as President but Trump wandered from the MAGA script. Ipso facto, Bannon was gone from the White House. The result was that there was never any plan on how to govern.

Many Democrats have publicly referred to Abrams as "the governor of Georgia" when introducing her.

Hillary did not try to overturn the election, but a large number of Democrats legitimately believe that she would have won if Trump "hadn't colluded with Russia to spread fake news".

A large number also believe that Stacy Abrams was cheated, and thus that election also wasn't legit.

It's one thing to complain about specific gripes wth an election and perceived unfairness. It's another to basically state that the election itself was invalid and incorrect, due to cheating.
