Crowe, I think you're still not fully understanding the situation.

This wasn't just gratuitous info posting where it's easy to edit it out. In that case, I would be happy to go through the thread, edit out its numerous references, and ban/restrict the person who posted it.

This was a complicated situation in many ways:

- Marty worked at the place in question, so it was also his own personal info he was posting.

- Marty did not post the name of the place, but rather named the town and posted a few bad Yelp reviews, which were able to be used to locate the place's name.

- Hut was the one to post about the situation in the first place, which directly involved him, Marty, and the workplace itself.

- Many other side discussions have spawned from the situation, all of which could also be utilized by people to find Hut's pizza place, such as the combo of "Lompoc" and "soggy dough". Or less offensively, "Lompoc" and "sponsoring local sports teams".

- By the time I saw all of this, most active users were already aware of the name of the place.


Therefore, where was I supposed to draw the line?

Ban mention of the city of Lompoc? Ban discussion of soggy dough? Ban discussion of Hut sponsoring local sports teams, even though he's talked about that in the past? Ban Marty from saying that he worked in Lompoc in 2016?

You see where this is going.

This is a very unique situation which doesn't fall under the usual personal info umbrella.

Now, had I caught the original post, I would have been able to nip it in the bud and establish some kind of ground rules to at least make it a bit harder to ascertain the name of Hut's place, but even then, I wouldn't have prevented Marty from discussing the city name or saying that the place had soggy dough, because these matters all directly involved him, as well. (Plus, Hut was the one to call him out, and definitely knew he was opening the subject to the public.)

Now, let's say Marty just had a falling out with Hut unrelated to all this, and nastily posted, "Oh yeah, and he owns XXXX pizza joint in Lompoc, CA", then that would have been easy to redact and ban him for, since that would just be gratuitous info posting.

But this is far, far, beyond that, and to be fair, Marty wasn't the one who brought it all up in the first place.

Yes, druff, I do fully understand the situation. We seem to disagree on if its even a situation, and I can dig that.

I also was waiting for the inevitable shitstorm that happens within a week or so of letting tyde back in, every time, and wasn't surprised to see it when it happened. That was the obvious first problem, preventable as it was. The second problem, a design flaw of this place if you will, is that you are the cops, judge, jury, and jailer here, but regularly aren't here. Those 2 things are really why this is an issue at all.

But to this specific problem, if you thought any of it was over the line but had gone too far to contain in individual posts, kill the thread entirely. If you don't think its over the line, do nothing. If you think parts of it did, you delete those parts or posts. You chose option 2. I would have chose differently.

It should be noted, as I blasted immediately, that Sonatine is actually the culprit. He posted the actual address for no reason, not Marty. Sonatine later deleted it but not until he quoted himself, lmfao. Others also quoted it

By the time I got to these threads, the info was already out there. It happened that all of this blew up on the one day I wasn't actively reading PFA.

If Hut wants, I will do my best to remove those references, but I felt it was pretty much closing the barn door after the horse escaped at that point.

Truthfully, it was super easy to locate the business given that Marty mentioned Lompoc and posted a few of the place's 1-star reviews.

So even if I removed the business name, I would also have to remove all references to Lompoc and the bad reviews in order to keep it a secret at this point.
