It's not easy to merge accounts here. No function like that exists on vBulletin.

I was in a hurry and could have re-enabled his Jasep account, but I wanted to make sure he couldn't edit or delete his past posts. I believe that was disabled, but didn't have time to check. Doesn't matter. I don't think anyone here is confused. I'm not going to let him post here regularly as JAS, nor do I think he has an interest in doing so. He knows this bridge was burned a long time ago.

It is very possible that he is in the process of looking for a new job, and doesn't want his current employer being contacted about this scam stuff, so he is buying time with this $250, hoping he can reestablish himself and disappear.

I haven't checked my Paypal yet, but I think the chance of receiving the $250 is very high.

The chance of receiving a second payment is moderate.

The chance of receiving a third or subsequent payment is, sadly, pretty low.

I have dealt with tons of people over the years who have followed this "make 1 or 2 payments and vanish" routine to the letter. Not all of them were scammers, either. Many were just degenerates or onetime friends who had borrowed money from me, stiffed me, and then suddenly came to me with this grandiose plan to make things right with monthly payments, only to vanish after making either one or two. I had another guy I had a court judgment against (he hit my car and caused thousands of dollars of damage, and was uninsured), who promised to make payments for a year, and then made the first one and vanished on me.

All of these people were amazingly similar:

- Came forth with long-winded speeches about supposed guilt and the problems in their lives that caused them to be in this situation in the first place

- Sincere sounding promises to keep up with the payments

- Steadfast denials that they will pay once or twice and disappear

- They paid once or twice and disappeared with 90% or more still owed to me
