Micon was basically offering a gambling site that could be a front for laundered money via bitcoins when the law said gambling online was illegal. That is the reality.

That is punishable with jail time, somewhere north of 5 years.

Going overseas is the only alternative if you do not want to get arrested, if the Feds are pursuing, no idea if they are.

If the Feds are pursuing, you eventually will be caught. Unless you are absolutely determined to remain in a country with no extradition. That poses other social problems though, such as when people die back in the states and you want to attend the funeral. It's like being in the Witness Protection Program I would guess.

I have been to several third world small island tropical countries. You think it would be easy to just stay and drift aimlessly, and it's not. After a week there is literally nothing to do and you get island fever. Go to Grand Turk and tell me how you feel after three days. Now add a family and its a recipe for failure and it does not matter your bankroll.

I suspect the feds were closing in on SWC so the plug was pulled quickly on the old site - probably quicker than had been planned, which is why there wasn't a smooth transition from old to new.

The downtime might be painful, but less painful than getting the whole thing busted.

Once the whole thing is run from Antigua there's not much the feds can do.

Another 100% pure speculation post on why Micon might move to Antigua.

1. His position on bitcoins.
-Micon has always gone long. While he's offloaded small amounts of bitcoins its unlikely he's had a major dump. From past posts I would estimate his collection to be worth between 50k-400k. The last year bitcoin has taken quite a tumble and forecast does not look good. If Micon wants to liquidate he can't do it in USa without paying substantial taxes and facing legal consequences for bitoins obtained through sealswithclubs. Moving to Antigua fixes this problem.

2. State of sealswithclubs.
-New software is on the verge of being released. It apparently is miles ahead of previous software. Beta testers feel it is even superior to several big sites. Antigua is a major market for online gambling. It is possible that along with rolling out new software Micon is looking to move servers to Antigua and have sealswithclubs licensed by their online gambling board. Sealswithclubs may also look to take on real money deposits to expand player base. I could also see Micon getting job at local casino as poker host or something as well.

3. Jewdonk was his inspiration.
-Marty has won 3 tournies in less than a month on PokerStars...Micon's thinking: "Marty made nice scores. Just imagine if i was playing, I'd win a shitload because Marty is way dumber than me...lets go now Martha!!"

Antigua is a WELL known U.S tax haven and it is tax season. Not saying anything is there but IRS audits go back 7 years and things might have got pretty heavy as of late. The IRS will say that you owe $2.5MM, and what if you only have like 200k??
