I think this team is going to win the NL West. They need another big bat to be viable in the playoffs, though.

Yeah, that's great.....I have my money on the Dodgers beating the lowest common denominator in the league from Colorado by two

runs and they pull off a magical 2-1 win.........

What a disgrace....they will fail when push comes to shove

Games are usually low-scoring at Dodger Stadium.

I don't see anyone else in the NL West seriously challenging them. I thought maybe the D-Backs, but they have sucked so far.

I don't care about the total....you can't beat Colorado by more than a run?

    Do you like the DodgerDog?

Not going to lie, I am actually really tempted to go to Orel Hershiser bobblehead night tomorrow.

I like the all-beef Dodger Dog.

Being a Jew, I am not a fan of the pork ones.

You can't criticize the Dodgers right now. They have the best record in baseball and are 6 games ahead in the standings.

I am worried about Matt Kemp, though. Ever since he acknowledged having a hamstring issue, he hasn't been the same.

His almost-400-consecutive-game streak might be ending, but more importantly, it looks like his hot start has been derailed by injury.

And I expected Ethier to be the one to go down.

BTW good pickup with Abreu. He's not what he used to be, but they got him for virtually nothing, and he still has some value.

aaaaaand Kemp on the DL. Abreu was a good pick-up, but again, they still need help on O. People will also start hitting Capuano and Harang also. I think I said it before in this thread, but Carlos Lee, Youkilis, or maybe even Morneau would be great trade-deadline pickups if theyre still in the hunt come July.

I am a fan of the Dodgers because they have been making me
money lately but listening to baseball insider Seth Everett this morning he
downplayed the Dodgers to 4th best team in the league despite their record(weak division I'm guessing)

This guy knows a lot....then again pundits are notorious for being wrong.

On paper, the dodgers are the 6th or 7th best team in the nl. We'll see how they play now that luck is starting to regress to the mean.

    Dodgers should make the playoffs...

But unless they find a solid closer and vastly improve the hitting they flake out in the first round of the playoffs...

Abreu?...Same old story of picking up senoir citizens and expecting them to save the day...

Went to the game tonight because (yes, I'll admit it) I wanted the Orel bobblehead.

    Horrible game, though.

Pitching sucked the whole way (for the Dodgers, that is). They were constantly behind in the count, gave up a ton of hits, and walked a bunch of batters. It's a miracle the final score was only 5-1 instead of something like 10-1.

Only highlight was Mark Ellis (who is kicking ass lately) hitting a solo HR late in the game.

Dodgers had 9 other hits besides that HR and didn't score any other runs.

Part of the problem was the lineup:

    Gordon
    M. Ellis
Scott Van Slyke (3 major league AB so far)
    Ethier
    AJ Ellis
    Jerry Sands
    Loney
    Sellers
    pitcher

WTF?! Scott Van Slyke in the 3 spot? 5 rookies in the lineup?

Kemp is on the DL, as is Uribe. No Rivera and no Abreu in this game, either.

Gonna be a loooooong 2 weeks.

    Agree.

Team has no offensive depth right now, and the pitching has been better than it will stay.

as a Twins fan, I WOULD LOVE to see some sort of deal built around Morneau for Sands and other prospects. Of course Morneau is hurt, again, so i doubt he's going anywhere this season

I follow the AL a lot closer then I do the NL, but with that being said I honestly only recognize 2 players names in that lineup (Either & Loney). How the hell do the Dodgers have the best record in baseball with these no namers? I know they have some really solid pitching.

I actually felt weird not knowing 1 person in that lineup (Sellers). But yeah without Kemp in the lineup, the team is looking weak.

The whole bunch of you haven't even got the ability to manage a T-ball team...Much less who could fulfill the line-up needs of the Dodgers...

After reading your daily imputs I'm grateful that you're limited to the tube to view...Even then most of you are incoherant then...

Best advice is to consult with me first before you start typing in this thread...

    You can have Jerry Sands.

    He sucks.

... and just as Mark Ellis was starting to hit really well, he gets hurt and is out 6 weeks.

    No Kemp

    No Rivera

    No Uribe

    No Mark Ellis

Dee Gordon is 3 for his last 31 and keeps striking out.

This is a complete mess. How they managed to keep winning thus far is a mystery to me.

Kemp is probably coming back in 9 days, but it's not going to be enough.

For the near future, the lineup is going to be:

    C AJ Ellis
    1B Loney
    2B Sellers
    SS Gordon
    3B Adam Kennedy
    LF Abreu
    CF Tony Gwynn Jr
    RF Ethier

That's not going to cut it.

The Dodgers have been getting by recently on surprisingly good hitting by the two Ellises, as well as surprisingly good pitching out of Lilly, Harang, and Capuano.

Don Mattingly deserves a medal for getting 27-13 out of this team so far.

A lot of people don't realize this, but Mattingly's career was cut short.

He could have gone on playing into the 2000s, but he quit after 1995 due to back problems. He was only 34 at the time.

Scott Van Slyke whacks his first career HR during a pinch hitting appearance, a 3-run shot to put the Dodgers up 6-5.

Kenley Jansen shuts 'em down again in the 9th.

Dodgers sweep the Cardinals and are up to 28-13.

Amazing how they keep winning despite all the injuries. They are 19-4 at home now, though I was unfortunate enough to see one of the 4 losses in person.

More importantly, they are 7 games up in the NL West.

ESPN puts their chance of making the playoffs at 89.8%.
