"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
I guess it now makes sense why Pappas was practicing that avoidance:

Those numbers don't surprise me at all.
When Rich said that the poker sites donated "greater than 50%" of the money, I knew it had to be MUCH greater than half. If it were, say, 60%, he would have been happy to volunteer that information, as 40% of money coming from the members is still respectable. When I asked him to clarify, he was very evasive about it. Go back and listen. I should have kept pressing, but the "mood" of the discussion at that point was much less contentious than it was later, so I let it go. In hindsight, I really should have kept demanding the exact (or close to exact) percentages, or demanded to know the reason why it was a secret.
This $5.2 million to $50.2 thousand ratio means that about 99% of the money came from poker sites, unless the "other contributions" also involved a lot of money donated by members, which I think is unlikely.
This really shines a light on the fact that pretty much everyone has suspected all along -- the PPA is a lobbying organization bought and paid for by the large poker sites, just as FairPlayUSA was a lobbying organization bought and paid for by the large casinos.
