He is scamming new people to pay back the people he just scammed. An opportunistic scammer doesn't send back a mistake deposit to their bank account. An opportunistic scammer scams when things fall in their laps. Someone could make an argument that plol is an opportunistic scammer. A sociopathic scammer lies to his friends, family, and anyone who could expose him. A sociopathic scammer tells his business partner he is meeting a rep from a charity to give him a check. It takes a special type of piece of shit to do that. Anyone who thinks it isn't true is just as clueless now as they were on page 3 of this thread. I bet some guys on death row would be disgusted by that. It's also not like he was scamming to put food on the table. He lost $600 to Brandon in pai gow poker ffs. By his own admission, he was playing 20/40, and "hail mary" VP sessions. Not the actions of an opportunistic scammer trying to pay the bills.

Yep. Sociopaths just don't give much of a shit if they lose. It isn't that they are really evil. They may or may not be. I know a guy who is very well regarded in a field, flown internationally etc to perform. After knowing him for a few yeas via a poker game, I would guess they'd be considered a sociopath if a competent psychologist talked to him and he cared to be honest. The guy has never fucked over anyone directly that I know, but I've seen him oeprate and he'll tell us stuff that I doubt he'd tell most of his coworkers. I watched a documentary on this where they found a genetic basis for it and found out one of the producers had it. Then he started examining his life and he agreed he just didn't care as much as other people. He took care of his family etc, but he was a capable person and saw no reason to become a scammer. These people just don't ever get in trouble because they're smart enough and don't need acts of desperation. The fact that Jasep approached someone for 22Q shows a high level of premeditation that goes far beyond opportunistic. Is he a sociopath? I can't say, but I sure wouldn't say he isn't.

What bugs me is Druff giving us a clinical diagnosis of the guy. I wouldn't even brought out this sociopath word but I see peopel misusing it and people that are looked up to as being smart.

It seems strange to me that he would be able to collect this charity money in such a small community and then stiff the charity people 1/2 of it. I almost want to think there is more to the story or what we are guessing happened didn't. Was the amount never announced publically in a manner the charity board members would hear ? so many fails all around.

It doesn't take much to get people on here to send you money. It's also funny how he mentions his daughter and family frequently to try and garner sympathy. That is ice cold. Anyone with kids should understand that. What's even funnier is how people would lap it up and respond with "go spend time with your daughter, this is just noise" or "your family comes first." He doesn't give a shit about his family. If he did, he wouldn't have continually used them as pawns to scam people out of money. He's already proven he is willing to fuck over a gf by stealing their identity. The piece of shit would probably steal his daughters identity if he thought he could make a buck off of it.

What I want to see is if the guys who are owed money would accept it knowing that it is coming from some other poor fool who got suckered. Because if they think he still has even one nickel of that original $5000, they are just simply beyond help. If you take that money, you're basically just passing the scam along, and not really doing anything to put an end to it.

In 2008 I went stone broke after running terrible for about 7 months, I still had money to sustain my household through the end of the year but my poker bankroll was gone, worse yet, I had a baby on the way,due in December. I borrowed $2500.00 from a close friend of mine, and made the decision that if I wasn't able to make it happen with that then I was going to quit poker and find a real job.

I was really feeling pressured all the way around. I didn't want my daughter being born while I was downswinging and ever have to suffer, I had a baby momma who was (and to some degree still is) just horrible to deal with and added a constant layer of pressure and doubt on me. I wanted to make sure I had all the things I would need upon my daughters arrival, moreso than just furniture, clothes and food, but her mother drove a shitty, unsafe care, and wanted I to update our entire home with nice things... I don't even know what I was thinking, but the thought of being a parent for the first time when you work in a very, very selfish profession takes a brutal toll on you.

Anyway, the day I got the $2500 I went to Foxwoods and players the $180 nightly... It was a Monday I think, I won that tournament for around 5 grand, it was a nice payday and took a little pressure off of me, but it wasn't enough to make me feel at ease... The next night I played the $230 nightly and funny enough, I won that tournament for $7500... Now we are getting something going, I paid back the $2500 I borrowed just 2 days later and I had a 10k Bankroll all inside of the same week of going broke.... The VERY next night I played the $180 nightly and WON that tournament for 6k... 3 tournaments in a row, three win.... 16k bankroll.... things were looking up...

The next morning I went to a subaru dealership with my daughters mother... We decided that we would buy a brand new Forrester (one of the safest cars on the planet). In order to get the payment low enough so that it would be very easily afforded with her job I had to put 8.5k down on it. We bought the car and I was left with $7500...

I got to Foxwoods that night and I have no idea what came over me or what I was thinking, but I was in a semi panic over fire off that much of my bankroll in one day and I had made a horrible decision.

I sat in a 10/25 no cap buy in NLHE game with the full 7500...

3 hands in I got coolered really bad and was broke again... I went in to the bathroom stall and dry heaved for about an hour... than I went home, saw that car parked in my driveway and had to go inside and pretend everything was fine... I didn't play poker again until after my daughter was born....

Second story coming......

When I first moved to this state I went and set up a bank account with Citizens Bank. I owned 3 restaurants at the time and was drawing money from them monthly and I wanted the money deposited same day instead of having to wait, so I chose the bank that those checks were drawn on.

I opened the account with $10.00 and was expecting to get a few checks in about 4 weeks that should have been around 10k. After moving expenses and buying a new car I wasn't stacked up very well financially, but that was okay I just figured I would live light until I got my checks, no biggie....

About 5 days after opening the account I got a letter from the bank that looked like an overdraft letter, I was like what the fuck? I didn't even use the bank account.

I opened the letter and it was a letter confirming a wire transfer for 50k in to my account....

I didn't know what to do, it was pretty sick, I went to the bank and checked my balance with my temp atm card and sure enough $50,010.00....

The next day was a Friday and I was in a weird spot, I had never had anything like this happen to me before... I called a lawyer friend of mine and he told me to do nothing, ignore the money, don't tell them about it, don't touch it....

In my head I knew that if I lost all of that money I would be in serious trouble, I also knew I had 10k coming in soon so I could replace that much of the money if shit went wrong.

I also knew that because it was Friday nothing could even be done until Monday at the earliest... I called Foxwoods and booked a room.

I went to the bank and withdrew 5k, I then went to the other branch down the street and withdrew another 5k...

I went to Foxwoods and long story short... I won 15k, mostly playing 10/25 NLHE and some 500 a hand paigow.

Monday morning I went to the bank, made a 10k deposit and asked to speak to the branch manager. I told him about the wire, they had no idea what to do, they couldn't figure out where it came from or anything....

They gave me some pens and a gym bag with speakers in it as appreciation...

The money stayed in my account for a while before they retrieved it... but I didn't touch it at all after that

Drexel allowing himself to get in the BAP for $1000 of fake money is the most egregious. Others clearly saw him on the list for $1000 and thought this MUST be legit. Sorry Drex, I love you bro, but it's true.

He owed me $600. He told me he would "rather" put it into his BAP than owe me the money. I gave him an option.

More importantly, He told myself and Kevin that he had the $600 to put in and stated clearly that "HE WOULD BE PLAYING WITH A 5K STARTING ROLL"

I realize it was a mistake to not either insist he post my contribution or post it myself. Bad judgment on my part, but 100% no malice. I lost 1k prop betting with Kevin, while his friend Jasep was freerolling me. I had no angle in this.

It was posted earlier that some believed Jasep not to be a scammer, or have premeditated this ala PeterDC, but I disagree. Maybe this BAP was in his eyes a short term loan. Maybe he planned on being able to pay people back after paying other debts or he thought he could "borrow money, run it up" etc to make things right.

The fact till remains... HE LIED TO MYSELF AND CHINA GOING INTO A BUSINESS VENTURE. I have been informed our sponsor was paying $3600 a year to VPR and that he orchestrated a situation in which he kept us from being aware of it. He sold shares for cash that weren't rightfully his, etc etc. This is something that was PREMEDITATED going in and to me invalidates all excuses "that he is just a guy who got in over his head, had intentions of making things right etc"

Again, I fully admit I fucked up by not making it clear that the $600 was money he owed me. But I swear there was no malice on my part to mislead anyone or have my name involved to vouch for him or help him gain credibility to help him steal for others. Again, I am truly sorry this occurred.

I promise you all one thing. Jasep is different from PeterDC. He has roots. He can't run. We know too much about him. I will pressure him, I will make sure that this never disappears off the radar his entire life until he makes restitution.

I and others will make sure this impacts his real life until he realizes he has no other choice but to get a job, contact all involved and make payment arrangements.

Also, this is NOT a defense at all of Jasep, but I don't think he is a sociopathic scammer. That's more what peterdc is. After the full story came out, I could tell Peter's scamming was a lifestyle choice that gave him some sick enjoyment. Recall that Peter could have easily married his phone-sex-company-owning girlfriend and been set for life with a woman who was worth well over 10 million dollars. Instead, he resorted to scamming other people and even stealing from her.

I equate Jasep with Erick Lindgren, just on a much smaller scale (and with much less poker talent than Erick).

Both would pay the money they owed if they had it. Both delude themselves into thinking that scamming is just a temporary means to getting whole financially, and they'll eventually make it right without anyone being the wiser. Both have major gambling problems and will step on anyone to keep themselves in action.

In Jasep's case, I think he has a fantasy of being a winning poker pro. He is probably both a losing player and someone with -EV pit gambling problem, as well. Every time he takes a loan from a friend, every time he runs a stake that is actually paying off previous stakes or life expenses, every time he lies, every time he steals, he probably talks himself into believing that he will pay everyone back when he inevitably "stops running bad" and becomes the winning player he thinks he already is.

This is why he was still communicating with people as recently as yesterday afternoon. He is still deluding himself that he can (dishonestly) scratch up the 5k, bail himself out of this BAP mess, and somehow keep enough supporters to where they will give him another shot in the future. He hasn't quite accepted the fact that this is really the end of his gambling-by-borrowing career.

In Jasep's mind, the victims here are just temporary, provided he can still keep playing poker and "make things right" eventually. I'm sure he believes that he would have righted the ship had this not been outed by the "assholes" of this forum, much like Howard Lederer and Ray Bitar believed that Full Tilt would have restored everyone's money had that pesky DOJ not busted them shortly after they stole it all.

I believe there are two types of scammers out there -- sociopathic scammers, and opportunistic scammers.

Sociopathic scammers are people like Justin Smith and Peterdc. They actually scam because they enjoy it. It's a lifestyle to them.

Opportunistic scammers are people who don't enjoy scamming, but see it as a means of a way out of their financial messes. These people wouldn't scam if they were financially sound, but see scamming as a reasonable option to bail themselves out of bad money situations. That's where I put Jasep.

At this point Jasep announced the stake was sold out. 100 shares @$50/share sold.

Then, a few days ago, when all hell is breaking loose, Jasep offers his investors a full refund with profits, for those who want out.

According to the 'thank you' list on the last video Jasep posted, he omitted the names BellyBuster, Drexel, Pikachar and tony bagadonuts from the list of investors.

(Did all of these people exercise their option for a refund? Drexel? Did Jasep pay these people back?)

There are also other stories about additional shares being sold. Pikachar's post above regarding the $150 for 3 additional shares in mid January is one example. I believe MadDad bought additional shares recently as well.
