    GPI Poker Awards are dead

    No great loss.

    Here's a writeup from Pokernews: https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/...year-50037.htm

In short, the GPI Awards were a dumb ceremony where poker pros and media people would get dressed up and jerk each other off, in an Oscars-like ceremony. Whole thing was cringe. The industry isn't big enough to have an awards ceremony. Very self indulgent.

Many of the categories were stupid, and many duplicated one another. A lot of the media/social media awards were especially dumb, as there was a ton of overlap, and the same 3-4 people were nominated over and over.

PFA Radio was nominated a number of times, but never made the final 4 for voting.

Had I made the final 4, I would have sent desertrunner in my place to accept the award in the event I won.

Was the stage big enough for a fire truck though?
