Your boy Trump has taken lying to an art form. And I don’t necessarily agree with you that he’s innocent. I agree he’s not proven guilty yet. I feel like it’s 50/50, but 100% he knew.

There is a huge difference between not reporting a crime you're aware of, and committing the crime yourself. It's not even close. The Paterno situation was so bad because this stuff was happening on the team he was leading, and despite being told about what was going on, he looked the other way and more boys got molested. Had Paterno simply stayed silent when a friend unrelated to the team was molesting boys, he wouldn't have had anywhere near the same fallout.
I've never claimed that Trump was a good person. That's why I was appalled when he was in line to be the Republican nominee in 2016. I didn't want someone like him leading the country.
When he led the country in a fashion which I liked, eventually I softened on him, figuring that the important thing was his competency to lead and pursuing policies I liked, even if he was someone I wouldn't want as a friend.
As I've stated many times, I wasn't happy with his post-2020-election behavior, and also haven't been happy with much of his second term. I don't just blindly defend things he's said and does, and never will.
But I also won't join the cacophony of partisan bullshit which is meant to push false narratives about him. It's not a matter of whether I feel sorry for him. I don't. Trump causes a lot of his own problems.
But yeah, when people say that the emails show Trump is a pedo, or when they say that he was praising white supremacists with his infamous "very fine people" statement, I'm going to push back and clarify.
If you've never found yourself thinking or saying, "Wow, that looks like bullshit and is unfair to Trump, even if he deserves a lot more scorn for things he actually did", then you're not approaching this in good faith.
You mentioned Gamergate. That was also entirely bullshit. I won't rehash it because it's from 11 years ago, but I remember debunking it to some liberals on Facebook, who were sure they had me totally owned with their "facts". I then posted very convincing evidence that each one of these four "victims" were liars with a history of dishonesty and grifting. Finally one of them said, "Okay, fine, you're probably right about these women. But we need to support them anyway because there's so many real female victims in gaming, and that's what they represent. So if we don't support the ones getting attention, we let all the female gamers down."
That's the basic attitude I see with how Trump haters handle him. They figure that he lies so much himself and gets away with it, it's their moral imperative to bring him down with lies about him. And if you dare point out these lies, you're labeled a MAGA sycophant.
