It is likely that Reagan's Alzheimer's did show up during his second term, maybe around 1986.
Here was Reagan talking to our own Ken Scalir, in January 1990, one year after Reagan's term ended:
Notice Regan's high level of confusion and inability to answer the direct question without Larry King's help.
It is likely that, like Biden, someone was pulling the strings for Reagan at the end of that second term. However, it wasn't quite the same situation as this:
1) Reagan's time in public office was definitely ending in January 1989. He couldn't run for President again, and he wasn't going to take on any other important role. In Biden's case, they were covering this up in part to allow him to run and serve ANOTHER 4 YEARS!
2) There was no social media in the 1980s. The general scrutiny regarding Reagan's condition was much less than that of Biden, since most people got their news either from 30-minute programs on TV and/or newspapers. There wasn't much of a coverup because there weren't many questions being asked. In Biden's case, there was a constant onsalught of questioning about Biden's condition from right wing media and social media, and thus a massive coverup had to take place to hide it.
3) The media was not gaslighting people who did question Reagan's condition. In fact, the media were mainly the ones asking the questions, as they shuold. In Biden's case, the media was complicit in covering the whole thing up!
4) Reagan had Alzheimer's, but not cancer. In Biden's case, there are serious questions if cancer was covered up, in addition to his obvious senility.
