The two people that look ridiculous in this thread (one of the most viewed threads on PFA ever in a week span), is Sonatine and Gamblebot.

Sonatine dismissed this as a non event off the bat (second post) and even after he had been discredited, he circled back after landfall and tried to say it was no big deal because part of the Subway system was up and some of his friends could make it to work. In a very odd defense of his position, he somehow suggested that people dying in an entire winter from exposure was about the same as the Sandy event, therefore it somehow made his point all along. Or something like that. He was probably deep into a 1/5th at that point

Gamblebot suggested this was nothing more than a Texas thunderstorm and that he plays golf in the equivilant. He than tried to suggest the only real Hurricanes happen on the Gulf Coast such as Rita and Ike even though Sandy will probably claim more lives than either storm, and definitely cause more $$ damage.

Reports are now coming in Sandy will be the second most expensive US disaster since Katrina. It's now pegged at $50B and growing. The death toll is growing. Still almost 4M people without power. Gas lines are miles long. NYC Marathon canceled. Food and Water Shortages. Looting. Look at my initial post about Human Suffering.

I said in this thread and have said many times. It's not intensity of the Hurricane on whether its a Cat 1 or a Cat 5. It's how big it is in scope, AND where it hits.

You people need to start listening to me.
