I think you're right, he may have even taken his payment from seals in bitcoin. If he took bitcoin as payment right from the jump then he would've done well. Also, didn't Drexel say that Micon took out 100k in cash and put it on the table in a cash game in Vegas? So I don't think he was living on 40k a year.

Currently, the site is only active for players to withdraw their money from their accounts.
The case's lead prosecutor says as investigators moved in on Micon, he fled.
"We are in possession of information that upon learning of our criminal investigation, in this case, Mr. Micon left Clark County and left the United States," said Jeff Seagull, chief deputy attorney general.
A declaration for arrest obtained by 8 News NOW shows investigators believe Micon flew to Antigua. A message on the website also says Micon is trying to re-establish the site in Antigua.
David Schwartz, the director of UNLV's Center for Gaming Research, says this case sets an important precedent.
By 2010, before a major crackdown on online poker sites, 2.5 million Americans played on average per year. Poker sites like Full Tilt poker brought in $1.4 billion the year before at the height of the online poker boom.
Micon faces a felony charge of operating an unlicensed interactive gaming system. If caught and convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and $50,000 in fines.
"My message to Mr. Micon is that he should immediately return to Clark County to face these charges," said Seagull.
The attorney general says his office will continue to pursue Micon "with every available and appropriate legal remedy."
The U.S. currently has an extradition treaty with Antigua.

"It is definitely not an easy process. It's expensive, requires intense investigation and that's what's made Nevada the gold standard. We protect the integrity of gaming," said Alamo.
To date, there has never been a case of its kind in the state, prosecuting an illegal gaming website using Bitcoin as money, and investigators plan to prosecute to the fullest extent of Nevada law.
"It sends a message. You will become licensed if you want to participate in gaming in this state. You will be licensed and you will be under the control of the Nevada Gaming Commission Board," Alamo said.
