This events of the last 2 days are an absolute shitshow, but is actually pretty tame compared to what happened all summer; and the media going full meltdown now after calling riots where cities were burning and police were being firebombed "mostly peaceful" is as LOL as it gets.
Also, I keep reading from media reports that a female Trump supporter was shot and it is Trump's fault, with no other details. I assume either Trump shot her or she shot herself?
Things that aged poorly

No. I've been disappointed in his behavior for the past 2 months.
As you saw in yesterday's election thread, I was complaining it was Trump's fault. But I didn't just come to that conclusion yesterday. I have been unhappy with his behavior since losing the election, and have said so here many times.
I am appalled at what is happening today, and none of this should be happening. Trump definitely has encouraged it, even while putting out mixed message statements which ask people to quit while praising their actions.
Seven months ago, I criticized the lack of police action and the stand-down which allowed the thugs to take over Minneapolis.
I stand by those words. I have the same criticism for today's lack of action. Those attempting a forceful takeover of buildings should be answered with force -- in all cases.
However, it's bullshit to say, "If this were BLM, the bodies would be piling up."
No, they wouldn't. We saw this for the past 7 months. Nobody on the left who kept quiet during the BLM riots has a right to bitch about the lack of police action today. Remember, Kamala Harris even promoted a fund to bail out the criminals in Minneapolis -- a fund which went on to bail out a serial rapist and other heinous criminals. Also recall that Antifa took over police stations and courthouses in various cities, and burned some down. They also took over entire city blocks for several weeks. Nothing was done.
People on the left who praised the BLM actions over the summer have no right to bitch about today.
People on the right who condemned BLM's actions in the summer are hypocrites if they don't speak out about today.
You posted non-stop all day about a fucking Target. Now you’re disappointed in a bunch of trash standing on the floors of Congress. If those were some gang kids on the floor of the US Senate, I’m guessing you would have lost your mind worse than you did when it was a damn Target.
That’s the first breach since the British burned it down. If you think that would have been acceptable and they let it go without incident and hardly an arrest, then idk what to say. You’re timing to get off the Trump train is quite convenient. Anyone paying attention could see this coming for the last 4 years. He’s preached lies to mentally ill people for years and this is the result.
I was angry about the permissiveness regarding the Target because it was indicative of the police standing down during violent, invasive protest. And I was right. This became a hugely problematic issue for the rest of the year, especially in the summer.
I have been complaining about the way Trump has handled himself for 2 months now, and have done so both on Twitter and in this forum. Did you not see that?
I will admit I didn't expect something like this to happen -- especially not on January 6 -- but there needs to be some consistency here. Either violent, invasive protest is wrong, or it's not.
I'm seeing people say that taking over or burning courthouses and small businesses is okay, but this is somehow crossing the line. I'm seeing people okay with Antifa pop-up governments taking over entire city blocks for a month, but somehow this is awful.
No, it's not. All of it is terrible, and all of it should have been dealt with in a harsh manner.
That's because the Capitol is more important than a Target. Bottom line is that the police stood down and let it happen with little resistance in both places, just like BLM was allowed to burn Minneapolis after looting that Target.
As I said, you either support a law-and-order police response to violent protest, or you don't. There's no such thing as, "It's okay when X, but not Y."
