Real question, from a white dude’s perspective, seems to me that blacks in the 60s pretty much had their shit together, they just wanted equal rights and would have been fully capable of being successful. Now all of a sudden, 50-60 years later, this generation claims that the wrongs of 400 years ago won’t allow them to be successful thus they should be given a bunch of free shit. I guess my question is, why do the blacks of the 60s seem far more advanced?

A lot of the answer has to do with the reduction in social mobility in recent decades. Routes from poverty into the middle class are not there like they were at that time. Just having a job, basically any job, and one income per family was enough then and it is not now. This is not unique to blacks and it affects millions of poor and disaffected whites too, who have many of the same problems but they manifest differently and also are not treated in our discourse in a racialized manner in the way that problems in the black community are. Trump's appeal to whites in this category in contrast to Hillary's complete lack of understanding of the situation is what got him elected, even though Trump doesn't actually give a fuck and is busy making things worse. Not to derail it and make it about Trump.

Another part of it is the shift in recent decades toward a crueller, more punitive society. Cut mental health and education, build more prisons. Don't address housing and affordable health care, and so on. It's a recipe for disaster, and again not just for blacks though it does disproportionately affect people of color.

Ok, I'll enjoy jousting with you gents more on this topic soon but I gotta get some work done. Somebody has to pay taxes and subsidize those freeloading red states.

I've been saying since the Floyd shit happened that these riots (at least out here) are mainly Occupy Wall Streeters, with a sprinkle of COVID-related hopelessness, doing it under the guise of racial injustice so some rich people are socially forced to agree. The MSM is always ready and willing to stoke a race war, anything to keep the poor fighting each other. Now the angle is just blacks vs cops.

In fact, I've come to believe that very few BLM people really care about black lives. If they did, they would be proposing real solutions to the terrible violent crime problem in black neighborhoods. Instead, they're going after "racist" cops, who account for a tiny percentage of murders of black people each year.

White cops are a convenient target, and the media/left are exploiting it because this is the quickest way to rapid social change.

As a person of color, this is how I feel. The police did nothing wrong. They were protecting themselves. Black people have to start doing the right thing and worry about the problems in their communities first. 9 arrested after 'suspicious vehicles with out-of-state plates' stopped on 4th night of protests in Kenosha



KENOSHA, Wis. - Three vehicles, a black school bus, bread truck and tan minivan were stopped by Kenosha police Wednesday evening, Aug. 26 after police said officers suspected the occupants "were preparing for criminal activity related to the civil unrest." This, on the fourth night of protests following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, and a night after two people were fatally shot during demonstrations.

Police said this began with a citizen tip that the vehicles planned to meet in a remote lot near State Highway 50 and Green Bay Road.

Officers began surveilling the vehicles after locating them, assisted by U.S. Marshals -- and confirmed the out-of-state plates.

Police said officers followed them to a gas station near Washington Road and 30th Avenue, where officers observed the occupants of the bus and bread truck exit and attempt to fill multiple fuel cans.

At this point, "suspecting that the occupants of these vehicles were preparing for criminal activity related to the civil unrest," officers attempted to make contact and investigate.

Police noted, "the officers exited their vehicles, identified themselves, were wearing appropriate identification and then detained the occupants of the bus and bread truck."

The driver of the minivan tried to pull away, but the vehicle was stopped and police forced entry -- arresting the occupants.

According to police, the vehicles contained various items that included helmets, gas masks, protective vests, illegal fireworks and suspected controlled substances.

The nine individuals were arrested for disorderly conduct and are pending charging decisions by the Kenosha County district attorney.
