Everyone plays fairly passive, they want to see flops etc. There is a lot of money here in Calgary, a lot of oil money and the Casino is right near the heart of the business area as well as the Stampede grounds. Old guys cruise in after work, while travelling here for work and half of the 1/2 tables are always full of passive businessmen who call a ton pre, never 3 bet and never fold top pair.

I dont understand the above statement? At $1/$2 the standard buy in is $200 so everyone at the table is 100bbs deep until they lose a little bit. Most of the time 1/2 the table is sitting on 300-400 in the game I play at and there are plenty of moves made preflop with less than QQ.

I am very similar to the OP. I probably book wins at $1/$2 70-80% of the time and only play once a month or twice at the most. $1/$2 live is quite simply the easiest game in the world to beat. Nearly everyone in the game on a Friday or Saturday night has little to no idea what they are doing and are drunk and looking for a good time. I have won many pots where i called off light thinking there was no way I could possibly be ahead with top pair weak kicker or 2nd pair, etc and the noobs cant imagine there pocket Jacks are no good on the KQ983 three diamond board.
because the buy in is $50-$300, most guys buy in for the min up to 200. What are you possibly confused about? Passive, old businessmen don't 3 bet pre flop when they have more than $200 at the table generally. If they have from 50-100 they are willing to gamble it up with weaker hands. Obvioulsy some guys make moves pre flop with weaker hands, but passive businessmen which make up a lot of the people in the games I play do not. The point was, 450bb's deep and getting in with A,K pre you better have a strong read on your opponent.

little over $1100. plus buy in at the Wynn, won a great pot with quad Kings, unusually myself and most at the table were floor licking drunk, also was my first ice man encounter, i thought he looked like my version of a pimp.

The 1/2 game at my casino plays like .5/.10 online. I play on the pokertek tables so we get a lot more hands it per hour. I honestly think people play a little looser than with actual chips cuz you just have to push a button to call rather then count out the chips.

1/2 plo8 9k Over a weekend of live Bought in for 40$ Game went from 1pm to 4am next day Bought in a cpl times for 100$ and the same on sunday ended up the weekend with 9k.

1/2 nl about 3200 in probley a 10 hr session.

made 1200 ish mutilple times In 1/2 nl

Factor in none of these games have rake.

Best run from Nothing online was 20cents to 3800 in a few hrs on stars ,I think if druff remembers being directed by a friend to my 10/20 limit game or whatever it was then he can confirm the story. I may have ran good againts him for a couple hands then he left if i can remember right.

I may have misunderstood what you were meaning. You said "but if anyone is over 100bb's deep you rarely see guys making moves pre" and what struck me was the word anyone. There is always at least one player at the table over 100bbs deep at $1/$2. Now looking back, I take it that you meant if a certain player has 100+bb that that certain player is less likely to make a non-standard 3bet, etc. That would make much more sense.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

2300 hundy when the game was 1-2 100max, 20 hour sess. 1900 when the game progressed to 200max. The 1800 was a 8-10 hour sess where I was dealt AA nine times and got it in pre seven of the nine times and they held all but one. The one being vs KK for a 1300+ pot. Twas a siqq card rack night.

yeah, the targets at the games I play, the business guys who come to play and have fun don't even think to 3 bet with anything but queens plus, in fact a lot of them think A,K is a terrible hand and just limp call with it. I wouldnt be very excited to play a $1800 pot at the 1/2 all in pre with A,K against the giant majority of 1/2 players in the games here in Calgary.

My 1/2 game must play much looser then the ones you play in because people 3 bet much weaker than QQ where I play.

About $800, during the WSOP that Jamie gold won....was at the palms, busted out of the nightly tourney literally in 10 minutes, my friends were all still in so I hit up the poker room.

Got sat at a table with Moneymaker, hit a flush against him and won a decent pot....he kept begging everyone to boost the stakes to $5-$10....I said fuck that since I had about $300....and Those stakes are too high for me in the first place.

Got up to leave and the room manager said there was an open seat in the other room...had 6 or 7 young guys who had rented a house with Taylor Caby, they were all drunk and spewing off so I played tight and chipped up over time, was a fun night....they all left so I played in a limit game after that and won another $200....when I walked outside it was blindingly bright and hot as hell....I had played for 14 hours straight....oof

It was a 1-3 game at the TI during the WSOP back in 07, $2,550. Crazy thing was 80% of it was one multiway hand. Won with J-2 in the big blind on a Ja-5x-2s flop vs K-K, Q-Q and As-5s. I made an awful call for $47 when the SB with K-K flatted.

Besides that hand the crazy part of “the experience” (it was my first wsop) was Johnny Chan was selling autographed shit they had hanging up at the TI and he came in to check in it. Would have thought Jesus Christ walked in the door.
