It'll be interesting to see him come back. I don't like him for the way he treated Todd and Drex, however I dont honestly believe he deserves a long jail sentence. Give him a $100k fine/1yr probation and sign an agreement to never open another gambling site, I think this would be more than fair.
Everyone is convinced there is a deal. Why? It's a theme or a Micon meme now. We have graduated to simply trying to guess how long probation will be. Lol.
Is everyone's assumption a homage to the great Chesnoff? Dude gets paid if this becomes a 2 year trial as well. There are numerous wildcards that Chesnoff can only rely on Micon for complete and accurate info. Lots of luck.
I previously offered SWC 2.0 as an example of issues that must be argued. As others have pointed out, why can't we have some additional charges filed?
Perhaps Micon's motivation might be a little friction from the Antiguan government. How long are tourist visas? I need a refresher.
Considering a major role of a lawyer is to haggle with the prosecution for a leaner sentence, a deal is almost always in the making. Add to that, a Son of Abraham made a bad call but did not threaten anyone except those monopolies already entrenched in Nevada
Money talks. It says both sides can to do less work and the court's time is not wasted on a victimless crime. And a semi-strong message is sent out to other criminals not already working within the system.

Maybe the real pressure was the thought of returning after July 14th, the end of WSOP.
Imagining that walk across the tournament floor with all eyes on him was probably all the motivation Micon needed.
Nobody will own Vegas like this since Elvis.
Micon knows what he would give up for this kind of attention.
Druff or Drexel sitting final table next week. Micon would wish this too just for the added storyline.

Happily. I was reacting to your assumption that this case might involve no deal?
This case has plea deal written all over it.
The prosecutors have an unknown factor to wrestle with.
No similar cases to serve as a prescedent. No previous judgements to call upon. A small wildcard for sure but new territory to traverse and not something they can be completely confident about.
The accused has choices. He's not in custody. His ass is on a hammock not in some lock-up.
His crime was victimless so spending money trying to bring him to justice would be overkill. However, he doesn't have the U.S. to call home and the opposition is well aware of that.
The court will consider a plea deal a victory in that justice will have been served, they can use the guilty party as a scarecrow for others and will no doubt add to the State coffers but only if they play ball.
I'm sure you're right that the majority have no problem with a long drawn out case but a decent judge would see through that rather quickly. The court system has to be overloaded as it is.
A quick victory that turns a profit ( VOLUME, VOLUME, VOLUME) will fit in nicely with the mantra of the Nation.
BTW your graph is looking quite spiky as of late.

Maybe Simp will structure the ultimate contest were Micon's fate is predicted.
My real question is will he be allowed @ wsop after he turns himself in and is released.

Drex said many radio shows ago Micon would never come back if he was facing even one year in jail. I got to figure they gave him a range in the plea deal which leads him to believe it is for very little or no jail time...probation? maybe as a first time offender...
If he's coming back now, he's probably got a deal for probation or very little jail time.
He has until mid-August to stay in Antigua, so he doesn't have to bail so quickly if he's not happy with the deal being offered.
I am most interested to see the terms of the probation.
Will it involve shutting down SWCpoker?
Will it involve staying away from all casinos?
Will it involve a promise to not work for or own any online poker site?
How big will the fine be?
Pretty sure that Chesnoff attacked the case using the following:
1) Servers for Seals were not run from Nevada
2) Micon had no access to the money flowing in and out of Seals (if hdev from earlier in this thread is to be believed)
3) Micon was a paid promoter who masqueraded as owner in order to give customers more confidence in the product
4) Bitcoin, not money, was being gambled
So then the burden of proof is on the government to prove that Micon really owned it, and they may lack that, even though they might have stuff on his computer which would indicate the was much more involved than just a promoter.
I think the government's case might have its biggest weakness in that Micon had no access to the server running it and had no access to the money/bitcoin.
While abrown has pointed out that the statute makes it a crime to materially participate in running an illegal gambling site, the case becomes much weaker if they can't prosecute Micon as an owner.
So perhaps Laxalt realized that a jury might not want to convict Micon, when his defense team could prove that he had no access to the servers or the bitcoin flowing in and out. Also, a jury may be less likely to convict Micon for providing means to gamble bitcoin than they would if he was running a real money gambling site.
I also don't believe they will re-arrest Micon for SWCpoker when he gets here, or pull some dirty trick like that. High profile attorneys have a professional relationship with prosecutors, to where they basically treat each other with respect, even as adversaries. This is because they frequently have to deal with one another and negotiate, and it becomes impossible to negotiate with someone who pulls dirty tricks on you. So basically they handle matters with each other as straight shooters. It's not like what you see on TV, where the prosecution or defense presents a shocking piece of evidence or surprise witness and completely blindsides the other in court. If they were going to re-arrest Micon for SWCpoker the second he gets to Nevada, Chesnoff would be told about this in advance.
