I will crosspost one important writing. And it will prob get me a life ban, from 2+2! I only joined to post this, so as much as I am shown here, and hated, might as well crosspost here.

Part of the problem with online poker/poker and the like these days, is too much regulation. When you want to hate and bring down a person who created a poker site, who had an idea to offer people an opportunity to play poker again in the U.S which has been stripped from the vast majority of us while never robbing a penny from anyone, I do wonder what is left. The day you all think what Bryan Micon did deserves any type of serious punishment, is really the day online poker has died. What is left?

Rich Muny (of the PPA) is posting in the 2+2 thread. Some people are bashing him and the PPA, but I won't bother getting into that.

The interesting part to me was how Rich called the crackdown on unlicensed sites "inevitable" when a state licenses and regulates online poker. That's 100% a correct statement.

However, Rich also seems afraid to admit that the government was justified by cracking down here. He is taking the tone of, "I don't like that it's this way, but that's the reality."

I think that Rich probably feels differently in his private opinion, but I think he's playing nice so the Micon supporters & government haters don't jump down his throat.

But I would think that the PPA should be VERY much against rogue sites existing unmolested by the government, if they really support an agenda of complete legalization/regulation in the US. Otherwise a soft stance on illegal/unregulated sites sucks life from the legalized ones, and the whole model falls apart.

That was actually the point Ultimate Poker's CEO Tom Breitling was making with his pathetic "lessons learned" videos. He was blaming UP's troubles on the "pirates" -- the unlicensed sites still operating in the Nevada market. While UP's failures were much more a product of severe mismanagement and a saturated market, he did have a point in that it becomes even harder to succeed when unlicened sites (like Seals) can compete with you, without all of the restrictions and expenses that licensing sites have to face.

Anyway, bottom line is that you can't have it both ways.

You can't spend your days pushing for a legalized and regulated US poker market while also supporting the unlicensed sites' right to exist (or lack of enforcement of them).

Sadly, the world is full of bullies. A good portion of them are in prison. There is something about his anorexic model build that is gonna invite a lot of abuse.

I am not saying I want this to come to pass. I am sure Micon knows how the world works and the threat prison and poses for guys like him. This isn't the guilty verdict outcome but the "no bail" scenario.
