Not surprising that this occurred in Bakersfield, where I could easily see owners of vicious dogs letting them run wild.

I've mentioned this before, but in 1994, a radio station caller mocked the city of Bakersfield when calling in to talk to the LA Mayor (Richard Riordan). LA was rebuilding after the big earthquake, and the caller told Riordan he should still be proud to be mayor or LA, and not a "boring place like Bakersfield." Riordan took the bait and said, "I agree! Bakersfield IS boring!"

This outraged the city of Bakersfeld, and they demanded Riordan come to their city to spend a day there, so he could see how it wasn't "boring". (LOL)

This made front page news in the LA Times.
