I learned a big lesson in 2007-2008. I was betting a lot of stuff with a local who wouldn't let me play till 2 hrs before any game tipped in college football and I was losing so much value (sometimes as much as 30 points a week). 99 % of the time I knew my plays as the lines went on the board Sun/Monday and I would watch them steam out of my favor so I had to find more outs that would let me fire early in the week. I sorta have my own NCAA power rankings in my head but nothing that is purely math based. I just try to look at the board and see which teams are most likely to get blown out.

I will be lucky to break even with my parlays today due to this one. Im all in with Georgia today -3.5. If that loses, it will not be pretty. Have them in 9 parlays.
Penn State started out hot and in the end nearly blew that game. I had them in a 13 point teaser and was sweating a bit but now as long as Cuse don't fall apart I just need the under 58 in the Michigan/MSU game.

Placed $2200 on the Raiders @ -2.5 at -110 for a friend who lives out of state yesterday. Personally I hate the bet and would have taken the other side if it was my money. Eagles D has been much better as of late. Same can't be said for their O though, although Foles could step up and there's always Shady, and despite what some people think the Raiders still do suck, so...

Question though... What would be the acceptable amount to expect in return for this service? It's somewhat of a pain in the ass, especially considering it was on a Friday, having to go to the bank, waiting in the long pay day lines to withdraw the money, then going to a casino and hitting the book. I told him I get 5% ($100) if he wins, nothing for a loss. He said too much and tried to get me down to $50, we settled on $75. Sound about right?

depends on how valuable your time is really. I'd charge him for a loss too lol.

How close of a friend? Closer = less vig then someone not as close.

Anyways, for the time you put in settling for $75 is probably alright for a one time thing but if he wants you to do this regularly then you will want to negotiate terms your both can agree on.

That's definitely it right there. Time isn't always money, but I really value my downtime as I seem to have very little of it nowadays. Aside from that I had a ton of shit to do yesterday and this definitely put a kink in the plans. It will be somewhat annoying if he does lose as I will get nothing for my troubles, but at least him losing most likely means my Birds win, so there's that. My luck the game ends 17-16 Raiders though.

He's a good friend I've known for a few years, this is why I did it in the first place. I wouldn't do this for most people. I won't do this on the regular either, and he said that's not a rate he could sustain over the long term.

It's a good question Vegas, and and ultimately subjective. Personally I wouldn't do it for anyone who wasn't a really, really close friend, but frankly I wouldn't charge anything.

I'm in a similar situation this week in that a buddy of mine asked if I could hook him up with two Seahawk tickets for tomorrow. He could buy them from a reseller or on the street tomorrow, but I said I'd see what I can do. Two nights ago two of the dudes I checked with both came through, so now I'm over ticketed and I've fronted $700 for two different transactions and I had run around yesterday and I'll have more run around tomorrow getting everything sorted.

I wouldn't do this for most people, but my buddy is almost like a brother and in the end he ended up with a great deal.

Your situation is different in that you're putting up significantly more money and it's likely a bigger hassle. I don't know if you're often asked to do this considering where you live, but this sounds like it's more of a one-off situation.

I'd do it for free, and if my buddy wanted to show some love if he won then all the better. I'm not suggesting you're out of line in any way, and frankly the amount you suggested seems reasonable. Again, it's totally subjective and for all I know you've got people sweating you all the time to place bets for them, which would be a pain in the ass and certainly deserving of compensation.

For a friend, I'd do it once, and wouldn't mention money. If he won, and didn't take care of me, I wouldn't say anything about it, I simply would never have time when he asked again. Ever.

The card kind of sucks today with a few extra teams on bye weeks.

No clue what I will play yet straight up still deciding but I'm locking this 13 point teaser in shortly:

    Dallas Cowboys -10 (-105) (+3)
Under 41½ Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns (54½)
Over 40½ (-115) Tennessee Titans vs. St. Louis Rams (27½)
Over 46½ (-105) New Orleans Saints vs. New York Jets (33½)

No, I didn't notice them, I just have saw SD trying to take the air out of the football and chew clock a lot lately, and that number seemed high. The Jets also try to shorten games. That's the only reason I played the unders. I find the NFL real boring compared to college, and have to bet something just to make me interested enough to watch, but I don't bet a lot of money on the NFL, and don't do much homework other than watch.
