But I'll go over a few quick important things:
1) You want to earn your status at or near the beginning of the year, because it always lasts TWO calendar years plus 1 month past when you earn it. So a status earned on 1/1/26 and 12/31/26 will BOTH last until 1/31/28. This makes it possible to only have to re-earn your status once every 2 years.
2) Tier multipliers are now very important, for obvious reasons.
3) There is a HUGE law of diminishing returns after earning base Diamond. I'd suggest stopping there.
4) Tier level does NOT influence your comps. The comp calculation is completely different, and based upon recent and semi-recent play, among other factors.
5) I would recommend base Diamond for anyone who is going to play a lot at WSOP (or stay at Caesars properties regardless of whether or not they play events).
6) You should play video poker to get there. See the list of the best games on page #1 of this thread. Vegas isn't a great video poker market, but it may not be worth your time to go to a place like Tahoe where it's better.
So this is what I'd suggest:
Go to a Caesars property between January 12-18, swipe in to the kiosk and make sure to activate your 10x multiplier.
Play one of the video poker variants I listed on page #1. Keep the strategy handy (see the links) for tough spots.
Earn 1400 tiers in one day (with a "day" meaning from 6am-5:59am). The multiplier will make that into 14,000. The daily bonus (for playing 1000 base tiers) will be another 1000, taking you to 15,000. Congrats! You are now Diamond, and will stay there for 2 years.
What do you get for Diamond?
- Free parking (though that actually starts at Platinum, the tier below)
- No resort fees (huge if you stay at Caesars properties)
- Priority lines everywhere, including WSOP
- Minor room upgrades if available (but not to suites)
- 1pm checkout instead of 11am in Vegas, and late checkout in other markets as well
- $100 food voucher (once per year)
- Two free tickets per month to the High Roller wheel
- Some exceptions made to policy if you ask for it
If none of the above excites you, don't bother. To me, this stuff is valuable so I don't mind the moderate cost of earning Diamond. Remember, it lasts for over 2 years if you earn it in January.
