    REAL ID deadline.

Me- I have not ordered a REAL ID yet as I have a US Passport Book and Passport Card and they fill the need.

    Passports for the win..

Don’t have a REAL ID yet? That could cause you travel headaches after May 7

The deadline to get a REAL ID is fast approaching after years of postponements and delays.

Starting May 7, your license or identification card will need to be REAL ID-compliant to fly domestically in the U.S.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like there will be another delay in the deadline this time. So, if you’re confused about how to get a REAL ID, why you even need one in the first place, and what happens if you don’t have one by May 7, here are some things to know:

Fun fact, most of the delays were caused by Oregon trying to fight it. We just finally became compliant like 2 years ago.

The DMVs here are a shitshow now.

I finally broke down and got one last year.

I needed to renew my license anyway. Funny enough I attempted to get one in 2016 but forgot my passport and only realized it when I went up to the counter. So I said "fuck it, I won't need it for 2 years or so anyway". Turned out it was 9.

The one advantage having the Real ID is that you don't have to drag your passport all over the country when you fly domestically, which of course would raise the chance that it gets lost or stolen.

I do find it funny that you need this special upgraded ID to fly, and the left isn't complaining about that, but they refuse to support a regular ID to vote.

TSA urges people to stop trying to use a Costco card as a sufficient REAL ID

The TSA is expressing frustrations with travelers who are not providing a proper REAL ID to fly.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the TSA made it known that a Costco membership card is not an acceptable identification.

“We love hotdogs & rotisserie chickens as much as the next person, but please stop telling people their Costco card counts as a REAL ID because it absolutely does not,” the TSA wrote in the post.

If you dont have REAL ID, carry a Passport with you.

Yes, you can use a U.S. passport or passport card instead of a REAL ID for domestic flights and to access federal facilities. A passport is the preferred document for international travel and is a valid alternative to a REAL ID for domestic security.
