WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed President Donald Trump's administration to enforce a policy blocking transgender and nonbinary people from choosing passport sex markers that align with their gender identity.
The decision by the high court's conservative majority is Trump's latest win on the high court's emergency docket, and it means his administration can enforce the policy while a lawsuit over it plays out. It halts a lower-court order requiring the government to keep letting people choose male, female or X on their passport to line up with their gender identity on new or renewed passports.
Not a huge deal, but I agree with this.
The problem is that there's no standard for "gender identity", so anyone can put anything.
This has the potential to cause a ton of confusion, and renders the "sex" marker useless. Why have it at all if people are legally allowed to lie about it?
I understand the argument on the other side. If you're trans and can pass as the other sex, the last thing you want is to visit a third world country and for the immigration agent to see that you're not the sex you claim.
But that should be secondary to truthfulness in documentation.
I would actually be okay with transgender being able to legally switch to the other gender, but only with strict requirements regarding medical treatments and surgery. A dude throwing on a dress and a wig should not be able to call himself "female", nor enter female spaces. And in no cases should male-to-female trans be able to enter women's sports, prisons, or rape shelters. The left refuses to budge on this, so F them.
It is a huge deal.
Medicaid is currently funding this shit and it has to stop.

A big problem is that there's virtually no gatekeeping process anymore. They rubber stamp these treatments/surgeries very quickly, and many of the people claiming to be experiencing gender dysphoria are simply either gay, autistic, or just atypical for their gender.
Remember the days of butch women and effeminate men, and there was no doubt in their minds that they were the gender they were born, despite their atypical gender interests/presentation? What happened to just accepting that?
There were a few kids like this in my high school. I looked them up on Facebook, and most of them have since come out as gay or lesbian, as you'd have expected. But absolutely none are trans, and they all seem happy just being gay.
Nowadays people are convinced that they're in the wrong body, and told to mutilate themselves.

She's totally right, and the state of California requires the teaching of this same bullshit in public schools.
Imagine teaching course material to kids which shows that little girls who don't look like Barbie are less of a girl, and that heavier girls are one step away from being boys.
Also, apparently if you aren't a "GI Joe" type, you're also perhaps not a boy, and should consider transitioning.
1950s schools were less regressive than this!
So according to modern "progressives":
- If you don't fit exactly with outdated gender stereotypes, you should consider that your birth gender was wrong and possibly transition
- Radical Islamists, who murder gay people and deny women basic rights, are sympathetic victims of western capitalistic society, and must be defended and protected
- Jews are bad people, and hating them is justified unless they fully denounce their homeland which is constantly under attack
- Women's rights don't matter if a certain subset of men is claiming to have their feelings hurt by being excluded from women's spaces
- Free speech is dangerous because it can be hateful, so it's important to censor speech which you deem as bad
