    Drinking SODA- New health study

I've cut way down on soda and I hope Druff reduces his intake as well.

New research found that less than one can of soda a day can raise your risk of developing a fatty liver by up to 60%

    NEED TO KNOW

-New research has found that drinking less than one can of soda a day increases your risk of developing metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

    - Sugar-sweetened beverages increased the risk by 50%, while artificially sweetened beverages bumped the risk up to 60%

    - The study author said the findings challenge the belief that “these drinks are harmless”

Less than one can of soda a day can raise your risk of developing a deadly liver disease, new research says — and it’s worse if you drink diet soda.

Those who drink 250 grams of soda — less than 9 ounces — are more likely to develop metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MALSD, formerly known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), according to researchers. (Standard soda cans contain 12 ounces.) The findings, part of an unpublished study from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, in Suzhou, China, were presented at UEG Week, a conference by the nonprofit organization United European Gastroenterology, which advocates for “excellence in digestive health.”

“The safest approach is to limit both sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened drinks,” Liu said in the release. “Water remains the best choice as it removes the metabolic burden and prevents fat accumulation in the liver, whilst hydrating the body.”

New Study Reveals That Less Than One Can of Soda Daily Raises Deadly Liver Disease Risk and Diet Soda's Impact Is Greater

Druff's real life friend continues to spend that daily quota trolling away

Wonder how the cognitive dissonance comes into play when he's balls deep into a 2L Pepsi, probably 'actually healthier that diet, my A1C is elite, etc.'

No serious adult can nurse a soda habit and expect longevity, better off chugging scotch.

You should actually read the post instead just the headline-

Liu’s study found that you can “significantly” reduce the risk of developing MASLD by swapping the drinks with water. Risk decreases by 12.8% if you replace a sugary beverage with water, and 15.2% if you replace artificially sweetened ones with water.
These aren't particularly exciting numbers. Looks like mostly a nothingburger.

They do affect weight a lot, though. I may eventually have to quit them if I can't get my weight down.

I do monitor my liver numbers each month via blood test, and they are fine at the moment.

There is a nice guy that works in the auto business local to me, about 32 years old, Hispanic male. He told me awhile back he drank alot of soda every day and was pretty obese. He hasnt had a soda in over 10 years and by doing so, slimmed down about 80-100 lbs. Super good dude and I always joke with him- You want a Pepsi and he laughs.

Downside in my opinion- He admits to drinking alot of coffee now, def not for me,

I did read the rest, but let’s think about it.

Why do people get a fatty liver usually if they don’t drink? They are overweight

What do sugary and diet sodas do? Contribute to weight problems

Who is most likely to drink diet soda? Fatasses

Of course diet soda drinkers are more likely to get Fatty liver, for the most part they are already fat.

Haven't had Soda in 15 years and it was only when I drank Hard Liquor to use as a mixer! I Gave up Whiskey, Bourbon, Rum and Beer over the last 10 years!

I had a friend whose much younger brother(15 years younger) constantly drank soda since he was a toddler. I warned him in 2010, "cut down on the soda or you'll regret it"...

The kid is not even 27 years old and has diabetes, despite not being obese or really overweight(he's kinda tall & lanky with a pot belly... skinny fat I suppose?)

So yea, the amount of High Fructose Corn Syrup alone will do permanent damage over time, forget about all the other chemicals they put in Soda, Diet or otherwise!
