    Am I going senile?

The following three incidents occurred this week, all involving food:

    1) I ordered extra chicken on the side with some tacos I bought for takeout. The chicken came in three small containers. I ate two of them, and then planned to put the third in the fridge. I forgot about it until 6 hours later, and had to throw it away.

    2) I cooked 3 hotdogs from a new pack I bought. I left the other 5 on the counter, and planned to put them away. Twice I thought about it and didn't do it, and then I discovered 4 hours later they were still out. I threw it away.

    3) Tonight I did takeout from a BBQ place, and one of the side items was cooked corn. About 30 minutes ago, I realized that I never ate the corn, and never put it away. I googled how long cooked corn could sit out, and unfortunately it was 2 hours. I walked over to throw it away, and saw that I actually did completely eat the corn during dinner, so all of this about leaving it for later was a false memory.

All of this really occurred within the past 7 days.

Out of an abundance of caution, I have given the PFA admin password to Benjamin, and he will run the site going forward if I become mentally incapable.

Thank you for reading, and good night.

All incidents are food related so thinking your food coma is cause. If it spills ver into other areas of life consistently then get checked out. Some forgetfulness is normal in aging.

Eat better, more tasty food that you'll be less apt to forget.

This would be totally normal behavior if you smoked pot.

In 2 years (conservative estimate) your AI Agent and Google/Meta glasses will take care of all this.

I have several acquaintances who are near my age who actually wear these Ray Ban things. One is actually a woman. I’ve tried their glasses too.

They have several interesting stories about coworkers being concerned about getting video’d and such.

I have great faith that Ben will enforce a one a day post limit on Uncle Desert Runner. These kids know shitposting when they see it. The rope you have given him already had us questioning your possible senility. This is just confirmation.

Perfect time to announce you're running for President in 2028.

You have checked off a few boxes in this thread.

Okay but what’s with the “cooked corn?”

Is eating corn raw a thing now? Am I that out of touch? (It’s certainly possible.)

Druff do you ever eat "expired" food where it's past the best before date?

While I'm not as old as Druff, I am called Memory Challenged by friends and family.

I even forgot that I laid out 3 parlays on Buffalo last night and 2 of them hit due to the Ghost Leg Parlay gimmick!

If it's corn you bought in the store and haven't cooked yet, leaving it out for some hours doesn't matter. I was making the distinction.

Usually not. It depends which type of food, though.

If it's something that normally has a "best by" date of 9 months out (like a can of something), then going a little past it doesn't matter.

If it's an expiration date which usually comes within days or weeks, then I don't. Most of this is just for taste rather than fear of anything happening. However, I do throw away anything that is left at room temperature for X number of hours if it's past what is suggested by the FDA. No point in risking some kind of bacterial thing just to finish off food I brought home, especially at my age.

When I was younger it was different, like in college I gave zero shits about this and would eat anything as long as it looked and smelled okay.

If I were in Gaza, Hamas would put out a press release that Israel stole my chicken, hotdogs, and corn.

#3 was most bothersome to me, even though it had a Jew happy ending in that I didn't actually waste any food.

#1 and #2 were just run-of-the-mill situations of leaving food out too long due to forgetting to put it away, but I usually don't do this often, and twice in a week was a bit alarming.

When I thought I did it a third time, I asked myself, "What is wrong with me?" and got irritated that I wasted food THREE times in a week. I seriously had no memory of eating the corn, but instead remembered leaving it in the bag to put away for later. When I went over and saw I ate it, then the memory of eating the corn came back to me, which meant the entire thing about leaving it in the bag was a fake memory.
