Boz, I like you, and when you suggested earlier this year that we meet up in Vegas, I would have totally done it if I were there at the same time as you. So this is nothing against you at all.
However, recently you've gotten very irritating with the ruining of threads with low-quality trolling of sonatine. Note that I am not protecting sonatine at all. He is antagonistic to a number of users here (sometimes even me), and it's definitely fair that he receives some insults/trolling in return. However, there's a time and place for it. I don't like when serious threads are cluttered because you see him posting and decide it's time to drop non-sequitur insults on him.
In the thread where I banned you, I deleted like 4 posts where you were doing this, and asked you to stop. You then proceeded to do it twice more the same day. It was at that point when you were banned.
FYI, sonatine did not complain to me at all. In fact, he hasn't complained to me about you ever, nor has he ever asked me to remove posts trolling him. This was all done on my own.
Here are my feelings regarding sonatine:
1) He is an intelligent guy and a longtime major poster in this community, dating back to 2007 or so. Most members here enjoy his presence, though I'll concede that some people here hate him.
2) He and I are not friends, and never have been. In fact, as I'm sure you've seen, he will sometimes insult me and this site. I don't have any feelings of favoritism towards him, aside from showing respect for being a longtime member who has contributed a lot of content to the community.
3) He generally stays on topic. Sometimes his posts will be provocative or satirical, but he usually sticks to the subject being discussed. That's important for the flow of these threads, and the readability of the site.
4) One thing that did bother me about him was when he would sometimes clutter threads with spam when he didn't like the thread or didn't like the poster. Not only did I delete that stuff when I saw it, but I also warned him to stop. To his credit, he doesn't really do much of this anymore.
5) He brings a lot of good threads/topics to the site. Sometimes it's political shitposting, but a good percentage of the topics he brings here I find interesting, even sometimes the left-wing political ones.
I don't care that he's left wing. I don't want a right wing echo chamber here. I like the fact that there are members on the left, center, and right who post here, so we get a wide range of viewpoints. That's the same reason I never joined Truth Social or any of the other right-wing echo chamber social media sites. That's also why I'm not active in any right-wing Facebook groups. I have always wanted diverse points of view around me.
The bottom line is that sonatine is a long-established, active member of the forum, and his overall contributions are much appreciated, even if sometimes he's a dick and can be rude to me. At the same time, I understand that he's not a sweet angel here, and I have no issue with you or others insulting/trolling him. Just don't do it in a fashion where it disrupts or ruin threads.
