"Everyone on the left is denouncing violence" - this means like 12 politicians while ignoring the thousands on public social media celebrating the assassination/making it clear that they thought he deserved it. It's a large enough sample size to assume this is the attitude and viewpoint of 10s of millions of leftists. There are multiple on my own Facebook who have the surface level, propagandized interpretation of Kirk and the things he did who fall into the category of essentially justifying it.
The full press conference mentions relatives saying this kid had become extremely political and mentioned Kirk coming to Utah, all while espousing the same hatred and viewpoints I just typed out above in a recent family dinner.

They just reported live specifically that any prior reports of the father being law enforcement or a sheriff deputy are false. Any assumptions about their politics, while likely true, are not necessarily true either. The Bush/Romney type of "conservatives" hate Trump more than most leftists. There are tons of these types in the upper middle class here in Texas who have just as many guns as the MAGA crowd.
And I think you're missing the point about the Antifa types. They are almost all one or two generations at most removed from what would now be considered "conservative" families. As previously mentioned, my mother has lived in Portland since the 90s.
