Exclamation Historic french dip deli in downtown LA to close permanently after 117 years

I have never been to Cole's and plan to get there before it closes. I have only been to "Philippe The Original" 2/3 times in my life.

I went there today. The line to get in was crazy. Be prepared to spend some quality time there, even on a weekday.

Cole’s is the only reason I’ll go to Skid Row in LA.

Cole's used to have a cool, hidden speakeasy bar in the back, The Varnish. I used to go there about 15 years ago. Apparently The Varnish closed about a year ago.
