Why is it "racist" to point out that a certain group is commiting over 50% of the crime in the country? Or a certain group beating up on a white child and steeling his bike? Or two black men pulling an innocent white guy out of a truck and almost killing him. How come you only choose to attack someone who disagrees with you instead of addressing the points presented??
There does indeed exist a double standard in this country -- especially in the media -- when it comes to interracial violence.
White-on-black violence tends to get extensive coverage, especially if the crime is particularly cold or brutal.
However, black-on-white violence gets a collective shrug, and is virtually ignored by the media. When it is covered, a possible racial angle is never explored, even if it seems likely one existed. At the same time, a lot of white-on-black crime is looked at through the lens of racism, even if race had nothing to do with it.
The Karmelo Anthony situation illustrated this very well. Imagine if a white high school kid had gone into another team's tent, and was told to leave by a black kid. Then imagine the black kid shoving the white kid out the door, and the white kid pulling a knife, stabbing him to death. This would have been deried as a brtual, racist crime, and the white perpetrator would have been treated as the epiotme of evil.
However, because it was the other way around, Karmelo's family received over $600k in donations (much of it from guilty white liberals), and there was nonstop excuse-making of his actions on social media, in what was the most ridiculous claim of "self defense" I've ever seen.
Here are some undeniable facts:
1) The media has generally turned a blind eye to black-on-white violence, but sensationalizes white-on-black violence, even though the latter is substantially a rarer occurrence.
2) Young black males commit a disproportionate amount of crime, especially violent crime. This even remains true when you adjust for income and education level, and compare racially along those lines.
3) There has been no real effort made to solve the problem in #2. The left blames phony bogeymen like "systemic racism" and poverty, yet most of these crimes are not committed by those in extreme need, nor those who have been clear victims of racism.
Persoally I believe the issue occurs due to the large number of fatherless households in the black community. This is a semi-modern phenomenon which began about 60 years ago.
I even noticed this occur with my (white) friends when I was in school. The guys I watched transform from good kids to delinquents were usually the ones whose parents were split up, especially when no father was in the picture at all.
Anyway, while desertrunner sometimes overaggressively posts about issues like these, he's basically trying to say the same thing that I am above.
I do believe that one partial solution is to return to aggressive, on-street policing, and reverting to the mid-1990s zero tolerance for any form of crime. It is my belief that there are certain people (mostly men) who are sociopathic and destined to become violent criminals, and many other "borderline cases" where they could either live normally or enter a life of crime, depending upon social factors. Eliminating the worst people from the streets also removes the potential bad influence on those borderline people, and raises the chance that they will proceed normally into society. Much street crime is sycophanic, in that many people won't commit it if they don't see it normally occurring around them.

I did not hear any serious discussions about reparations in America until the past decade. Prior to that, nobody was asking for it.
I'm not sure where this originated. It's possible it came from liberal academic whitey, and not the black community. It's also possible it came from black militant types. It's also possible it's a combination of both.
The typical black person does not feel they need reparations, from what I've seen. Not that most would refuse it, but then again, any demographic would be unlikely to refuse free money from the government. For example, I don't feel I need "Jewish reparations", despite Jews being treated very poorly in this country in the early 1900s. But if the government sent me Jewish reparations, I wouldn't send it back.
But we are getting off topic here.
There is indeed a crime epidemic among young black males which has existed for a long time. To ignore that epidemic does a disservice to both the black community and society as a whole. I have not seen a real effort to solve the issue from either side of the aisle. Tougher law enforcement and sentencing helps, but it is more of a band-aid, and still doesn't completely take care of the root problem. The left's attempt to supposedly "eliminate systemic racism" doens't help matters, and in fact makes things worse, as it interferes with police removing actual criminals from the streets, which harms black communities more than anywhere else. Remember, most violent crime committed by black criminals is against other black people, so leaving criminals on the streets is tremendously harmful to law-abiding black citizens in these communities.
My idea is to actually do a few things in tandem. Step up law enforcement and sentencing for violent criminals, while at the same time experimenting with social programs aimed at giving direction to teens/young men in communities which are prone to high crime and gang activity.
Ignoring the problem won't make it go away, nor will pushing a narrative that it's "racist" to enforce the law.
