    Adam Corolla has a place on Malibu Beach and did a tour. Again, he has experience as a construction worker and isn’t a spazz so I find his takes informative

    He walks up to the famous concrete form-tie beach house that survived and is frankly the future of LA construction

    He talks at the end about how most of the houses on the beach began life in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s when codes were non existent. Adam points out that they all have septic - no town services. They are beyond fucked getting new permitting. He estimates 3-5 million on sewer before you put up the first 2x4.

    I wanted to totally miss his shit back in the day but I find him a decent follow now.

That isn't the end of the world, but it meant the fix wasn't fully working. The Russian refused to do anything further, claiming that 38 degrees was "within manufacturers specs". What a load of bullshit.

    I'm trying to use his refusal to fix it in February as justification to forgive the 24 days past the 90-day limit when I called to get them back here for this freezer thing. They'll probably tell me to eat shit.

    In the meantime I'm making do with a tiny freezer in the garage.


    So all that effort likely bought me just 4 months, and I might have to get a new one anyway, and the prices have also gone up.

    Along with my washer and dryer the fridge I have is from the 80s. No issues. Modern appliances are meant to break so you keep buying them.

    I don’t know if this helps much, but I always bought Whirlpool appliances and had great luck with them.

    Very odd situation with my refrigerator.

    Office of the President for refrigerator flat out ignored me for weeks.

    They received my request quickly, then just didn't answer. Every time I called to check on it, I was told it was "being processed" and "we appreciate your patience".

    Mind you, this was just a simple yes/no decision -- yes, they'd re-fix my fridge even though it was 114 days since last repair instead of 90, or they wouldn't. There wasn't anything complex to do or decide. They could have decided this in 5 minutes or less. There was nothing to "process".

    I called and called, same bullshit over and over. Just told to keep waiting. Reminds me of the fucking Founders Card.

    I then tried the X account. They seemed helpful at first, but came back with something like, "Okay, we've emailed that office, please be patient and give it time for a response." So that was useless.

    I finally went back to the store where I bought the fridge and asked them to put me in contact with the rep for the manufacturer, as this is a last resort thing you can do in a situation like this. That was in the process of happening, and suddenly I heard from the company. They quickly "apologized" for not getting back to me (via text) and then set up a repair appointment.

    My "new" compressor in January, supposed to last until 2035, went 3.5 months before croaking.

    Anyway it's working again.

    Modern appliances = joke

    The shitty old early 2000s fridge in the garage still chugging along.

    Because you have so many brownouts and the inevitable surge upon return I would recommend a refrigerator surge protector. They now sell devices specifically for refrigerators and air conditioners. Under voltage is as big a killer as over voltage. An old school Tripplite might not cover you both ways. I’m sure this is what’s frying your compressor.

    You need to match the surge protector to the size of your fridge. Over/under 27cu. It’s $50 so why not

    Hide the thing from the service guy but ask him what he thinks. How much will you consider tipping him?

    Funny, I starting to look into that and I was seeing (from preliminary web searches) that a surge protector isn't necessary, and won't help.

    So there really are ones for refrigerators? I really would consider this.

    The first refrigerator failure I definitely blame on the power issue.

    The one in April, it's hard to tell, because we did not have any blackouts, and no brownouts to my knowledge. Might have just been a shitty replacement part.

    But yes, if such surge protectors are advisable, I will get one. LOL California and all that.
