they are pretty serious about legalizing casinos, which is a little shocking if you know anything about thai culture. ngl i think this has a lot to do with the current king's vision for the future (zero chance the previous king would have gone for this) and part of that is keeping chinese tourists in the mix im guessing. because when i was over there it was not uncommon for gambling busts that were nothing but drunk brits playing cards at 3am. like they were very serious about not allowing gambling, it was basically a religious thing.
its also interesting that the rules for thai nationals to enter the casinos are extremely strict; basically if youre thai and if you dont have the equiv of 1.5m USD in your account for 6 months, you cant step foot in the joint. as of 2021 there were about 125,000 thais who qualified for entrance. total.
anyway probably a good time to snatch up some real estate in BKK.
