It was a procedural overturning, not any kind of vindication that he wasn't actually guilty.
Because obvious he was.
This is just an "lol Illinois corruption" situation, where the original prosecutor did someone a favor and went super light on him. Who was that someone? It was Michelle Obama's former top aide. The attempt to correct it after-the-fact violated Illinois law, so Jussie gets off. Sad!
That's Chicago for you. Corruption is baked into the culture there, and this sort of thing is totally normalized. In fact, Chicagoans often have a hard time understanding politics and local government outside of Illinois, where such blatant corruption doesn't fly. That's why Rod Blagojevich was legitimately shocked when he was charged with a crime for attempting to sell Obama's vacant Senate seat.
Even the left-leaning sitcom "Good Times" often worked Chicago corruption into its plots, and featured a highly corrupt alderman (city council member, representing a portion of the city) as a recurring character.
Oh, and for all the talk of stolen Presidential elections.... in 2000, 2016, 2020, and 2024... there was only one actual stolen election in modern US history.
It was the Kennedy/Nixon election of 1960. Go look it up. Chicago played a big role in that theft, at the highest levels of city government.
There are two facts that shock people when you reveal it to them, regarding life in 2020s America.
The first is that local, state, and federal governments blatantly steal people's cash on highways and airports (civil forfeiture).
The second is that, in America's third largest city, corruption exists openly and is accepted as a way of life by the people there.
You wouldn't expect either to still be occurring in modern America, but indeed both are true.
LOL our "justice" system.
