This game is called Jade Monkey Deluxe
You can see how it plays here. The object is to get the free games. In this video you can see she starts with 16 free games banked above the 3rd reel. That's the minimum you need to play. It can be 16 games on one reel of 8 games each on two reels.
At about 1:25 she wins the free games and racks up about 100 units. That's about average.

When you punch up the bet levels and look at the screens you are looking for free games already banked. Like this. you can see the 16 free games banked above the reels:

When you punch up a screen and see no games banked it's not a play. Like in this pic:

No. The machines have denoms and bet levels within the denoms. They come in different configurations.
If a slot has one denom the bet levels can be $1, $2, $3, $4, $5. So down on the pad you punch up the $1 bet level. If there is an advantage play there you will betting $1 per spin. If there’s a play on the $2 bet level you will be betting $2 per spin, etc.
Some machines have multiple denominations like 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent. There can be 5 bet levels on each denom. Like 1 cent denom can have $1, $2, $3, $4, $5. The 2 cent denom can have $2, $4, $6, $8, $10 bet levels, etc.
You have to bring the screen up for each bet level of each denom to check for advantage plays.
