    I think you missed the key point of my reply, which I have bolded. Because parliamentary democracies, in which multiple parties vie for an electoral majority, or willing to form a majority coalition with other parties to form a government are less prone to a duopoly completely dominating politics. For example, in the US since 2000, the Dems and the GOP have locked up the general election debates to include only their candidates.
