I get free Hulu as part of my cable package, but it's the ad-supported type. Boy there's a ton of ads!

But I have good news for y'all. There is a simple Chrome extension you can install to auto-fast-forward the commercials, making them almost nonexistent.

First go to the Chrome store and install "Hulu Ad Skipper". The link is here, but you can also search for it if the link doesn't work.

After installing, just make sure it's enabled by going to internal URL chrome://extensions

Then just go to Hulu and watch your favorite show. You will see the commercials ZIP BY at like 10x speed, and vanish within seconds, getting you back to your show.

A few caveats, though...

If it doesn't work after installing, close down Chrome, restart, and try again.

If it gets a weird error message after fast forwarding the very first ad, which happened to me once, don't panic. Just restart the show, and attempt to skip to any point near the beginning. Once you do that, it should work properly. I'd say this happens to me about 20% of the time, but once I fix it, the rest of the show skips flawlessly.

Also, once in awhile after skipping, it leaves the mouse on the control bar, which stays on the screen. In that case, just move the mouse away and it will vanish in a few seconds. Again, this only happens once in awhile.

For the most part, it works well, and now I can watch Hulu with commercial breaks which last less than 10 seconds each.
