When Druff & I went to trade school a transistor was either “on” or “off”. A bit was a 0 or a 1. That was it. As the years went by you could cram more “on” and “off” transistors on a chip.

Google’s quantum chip computes using qubits. Qubits are like a dimmer switch. A dimmer switch can be at any position between fully off and fully on, representing not just 0 or 1 but any combination of these states at once. (When measured it can be resolved to a 0 or 1.)

This is powerful shit.
