At the Wendy's by me, there was this one weird male employee who says rude and inappropriate things.

I've never complained about him, but the dude has irritated me a number of times.

For example, Wendy's sells a plastic keychain tag where you get a free junior frosty every time you show it. It's like $2 and lasts for a year, so I bought one for 2024. Around late October, the tag broke off and vanished, because it's poorly made. I asked the guy what I could do to get this replaced, if I showed the credit card transaction from earlier that year when I bought it. Instead of saying "I don't know" (which was the real answer), or telling me to come back when a manager was there, he gave me a lecture starting with, "You need to be more responsible with your things" and ending with "It's not our problem".

Asshole. But I sucked it up and didn't engage, and just decided to drop the keytag matter for the rest of 2024.

Well, a few weeks ago I was in the drive through, and we had another issue regarding the key tag frosty. Except this time I had the keytag, as it's now 2025, and I bought this year's version in early January. The problem this time was that, at the end of my otherwise normally priced order (no coupons, deals, etc), I said, "Oh, and a small frosty because I have the keytag."

Well, apparently "small" and "junior" are two different sizes, and they keytag only gets you the junior one, and not the small. I always thought they were the same thing.

So I get up to the window, and the guy gives me a total which doesn't make sense. Their screen where you see the order has been broken for like 2 months, so I couldn't see the itemized list. I ask him to tell me the price of each item, or show me a receipt, since the amount seems too high by a few dollars. He instantly gets annoyed and repeats the total, ignoring what I asked for. I then repeat that the price is wrong, and I couldn't see the itemized pricing because the screen has been broken. He says back, "I know the screen is broken, that's why I'm telling you the price."

The dick was refusing to show me an itemized list, but I was refusing to pay until he showed me. So finally he frustratedly read me the items and prices, with the last one being "small frosty". I responded, "But I have a keytag, the frosty should be free."

He said back, "I know you have a keytag. But you said a small frosty. Keytag is for the junior frosty, so I charged you."

The dick could've said that to me when I said during the order "Small frosty, I have a keytag", but instead he just quietly charged me. Probably a passive aggressive move.

I then said, "Well I didn't realize small and junior are different. So I don't want the small frosty, make it a junior."

He responded, "They are different. Junior is the smallest. It's right on the menu. You need to read these things."

There we go with the rude lecturing again.

Again, I told him I wanted the junior one.

"Oh okay, you want the junior one?", he asked. He filled a junior frosty and was about to give me both that and the small.

I said, "No, I want the junior one only, due to the keytag."

"You said small, I charged you for the small, so if you want the junior one also, I can give that too, but you already ordered the small."

I told him once again, "No, I'm not paying for a small because of this confusion when I ordered. Don't give me the small and take it off my bill."

He angrily did it, and snapped, "I took it off, but next time you need to read the menu more carefully. Now can you pull up and wait while we make your nuggets?"

I responded, "No, I won't. I'm tired of you being rude to me. I don't have to pull up and wait, and there are no cars behind me. You're asking me to pull up as a favor, so your serving times come up faster than they really are. Normally I'd do this, but not for someone rude. So if you want me to pull up next time, try being polite. I don't do favors for rude people."

He looked sort of shocked, and meekly said, "Okay, you don't have to pull up", then closed the window. Fortunately I had a good view through the window of the nugget cooking and collection, so I could be certain whether he or someone else was spitting in it.

After I drove away, I was considering going to his boss during the day, but I said to myself that this wasn't bad enough to warrant such a thing, so I just said fuck it and let it go. Wasn't looking forward to the next time he'd serve me, because perhaps I'd order something else where I have less visibility into what he's doing, and he'd fuck with my food. Part of me felt foolish for antagonizing the guy, because I had seen him there for like 18 months, and figured he was here to stay.

Well, I've been there a number of times since then, including at the hours he normally works, and haven't seen him. Instead, I've seen a new female employee in his place that I hadn't seen at the place before. Maybe he pissed off someone else and got fired? Wasn't because of me, because I have never complained about him. I have to imagine there's other complaints about the guy, because he's just generally rude and condescending.

Anyway, if he's gone, good riddance.
