Good question. Micon likely has some money, and is living in a tropical paradise. He has support, loved ones, and others backing him. He's quasi famous and kind of a bitcoin Martyr. To our knowledge, Jasep isn't facing prison. His worst case scenario is being found out by his (ahem) beautiful girlfriend and potentially snapped off clean.

Since he has been able to cough up $450 (?) thus far, he could almost certainly afford a room in some sleazy part of town if he gets kicked out.

I would rather be a morbidly obese Mexican with freedom and a few dollars in my pocket than having to potentially face prison.

Definitely Micon. He didn't rob a fucking children's charity. Like, when the game is all over and I'm on my deathbed, there aren't many things that trump stealing from sick kids when I look over what I got done in my time.

I get you're talking more of the legal and state of life, and it's still Micon easily. He's got a wife and kid who love him, and there are avenues where you can see him being just fine on his 40th birthday even with the legal issues. I can't see a good end for Juan. He's ugly on an internal level that just doesn't seem to ever get fixed ime.

Micon just needs to take his medicine or he runs the risk of missing real time in his daughter's life. You go do 6 months to even 18 months at this point in her life and it will be just be a blip in her memory when she grows up. A funny story about dad getting the door kicked down that they tell around the table at holidays But the longer you drag it out, the bigger an impact and longer the time likely becomes.

You can't really foresee shit when you're wanted. It's easy to see where you can go right then, but shit is always changing. Technology, science, relations between countries. A lot of people thought they got away with a ton of shit before DNA solved decades old rapes and murders. A lot of drug shipments via courier internationally got snagged over homeland security stops by accident. People who lied on resumes getting caught up 20 years later by cheap corporate background checks. The US and Iran are at each others throats one week, running joint missions the next. It's really hard to foresee where you have a safe haven to run a business as a fugitive unless you have the money to run forever without earning.

Come back, take your medicine, and get on with life. Still, Micon would have to become an African bitcoin financed warlord with an army of child soldiers before I'd rather be Juan.

I'm going to roll with Team Micon in the Jasep v Micon debate.

Martha is foiiiiiiine and hes got family money he can fall back on until he puts together a small business to support himself.

Jasep, on the other hand, may have gotten HIV from his girlfriend, and has no real vertical growth potential regardless.

I will wait for a few more responses before I post my angle on the situation but interesting stuff to see how people view the world differently.

Every smug asshole on Team FTP lived in Nevada. They were on ESPN CONSTANTLY. They were getting endless incoming wires into their bank accounts for millions of dollars a month.

I mean wtf - it was like they were all trying to break into jail.

I guess they never referred to themselves as "The Chairman". If Micon had just pretended to be a player rep he probably wouldn't be in this situation.

I didn't realize there was any jurisdiction you could operate a gaming server without a license of some sort. That the SWC poker server dwells in some bullshit 3rd world server farm in Bulgaria or something probably won't last; surprised it has this long.

BTC is the holy grail in a lot of ways for offshore sites that have struggled so hard with processing. The process of the end user going from $$ to BTC really sucks however. The government has done an amazing job of making processing super hard for the offshores. Such a long way from the day when all the sites took Paypal.

This thread is way too long to even try to catch up on but I'm still wondering why you guys think he will serve time?

I honestly don't see him coming back to America if there is a slight chance of prison time and obviously Antigua will never kick him out of their country.

He also clearly isn't going to raise anywhere near 100k, unless he uses the gofundme to launder his own bitcoin (which isn't a bad idea, actually).

This is a total "law of diminishing returns" thing, where the people likely to donate will do so at the beginning, and after that it slows down tremendously. He will get a few hundred here and there from people who find out about it a bit late, but that's pretty much it.

The $3900 he's raised (and $1000 of it is very suspect, as it appeared within 20 minutes of him starting the campaign) will do very little for a lawyer like Chesnoff/Schonfeld.
