now a friend is taking me to valley med to be committed and evaluated as I have become suicidal.

Failing the military plan is not an option. I am too close and a shoe in for linguistics (VERY prestigious)

just chatted with my buddy for 20 min who just finished basic to go in as a NUKE (Nuclear Engineer) and he got a 12k bonus, he said the bonus is way higher for Linguistics and wishes me luck from So Carolina.

I'd push for medical, Corpsman have the best job IMO (remember I'm a Army Medic). IT guys are always doing the fun "help desk"-esque job of this... Once you are in, you can fill in the blanks.

For Linguistics, if you become an interpreter/translator have fun with Green Tours. Odds are you'd be going off to 29 Palms or Pendelton to get a Globe and Anchor Tour.

I went in for Corpsman and said I wanted to be on the front lines with the Marines, this has not changed, but Linguistics seems fairly lucrative no?
IN terms of both short and long term financial solvency, what would you go with? Between IT Linguistics or Corpsman? You did say Corpsman, but my buddy just told me there isn't a bonus for it. Not sure if that means I woudln't get one going into combat (my preference) but all in all, walking away from IT seems very hard at teh same time.

Shit, flip a coin at this point- anything but where I am at now in life.

Thanks for that! It seems to be my #1 choice as my talents (photographic memory, language comes super easy) seem to say Linguist all the way.

Turns out my great grandfather coming out of Russia was a Linguist, spoke 8 languages fluently and was held in very high regard in the military.

Easy work as a translator or computer tech or RN when i get out, so basically all three seem very lucrative

the corpsman gig gives me hands on real world experience that might also leave me fucked (moreso) mentally

the Linguist gig might be boring

the IT gig....sounds about awesome

fuck, I'm going to have to sign with whatever has the biggest bonus quite frankly. which sounds linguist.
