Regarding Boz and sonatine

I'm going to try this one last time.

Let's say I woke up tomorrow and thought to myself, "You know what? desertrunner is 100% right about this. I am going to let him decide who we need to remove from the forum."

And let's say that, upon my asking you for a list of people to remove, you had me ban sonatine, BCR, and a few others that you've complained about in the past. Let's even say that I promised to leave them banned for at least 12 months.

So we get to WSOP 2026, in June. sonatine, BCR, and the rest have been banned for 9 months.

Do you think my reputation in poker -- or this site's reputation -- would even be the slightest bit better?

The answer is NO. Why? Because their posts weren't really the problem. But we'd still have your posts/threads about black people, as well as reposts of tweets from known racist X accounts, as well as your "Transgender Pictures Thread", as well as other stuff which would get people upset to see.

So I'd still be having the uncomfortable conversations about why I allow these things on my site. And I'd still be giving the same "free speech" answer I always give. But it feels shitty whenever this happens, and I don't love thinking about what these people must say to other players behind my back.



I am not saying that I'm going to additionally censor the forum. As you've seen, I've even allowed blatantly anti-Semitic shit to stay up here, despite being Jewish myself. I prefer to respond to that sort of ridiculous crap and debunk it, rather than censor it.

And yes, lots of people besides you -- including members here who vote Democrat -- also post offensive things which can make me and/or the site look bad.

The offensiveness of this community dates all the way back to the 2004 NWP days, and in fact the modern version on PFA pales in comparison to the shit that used to go on. But it's a different time with different standards, and the bottom line is that it's my name ultimately connected with this site.

My point is that the free speech nature of this site has long been a thorn in my side reputation-wise, but I've dealt with it because I believe in running a forum with minimal censorship. It's absurd that you think my banning a few guys you dislike will change that for me, especially when you are one of the biggest offenders regarding posting things which people would find objectionable.

Just set up "the Carter" or whatever it was called back on NWP or DD, make it a private login only forum and send DessertRunner there.
He can post to his heart's content and a lot less people would see it.

Or you know, send him off to Stormfront.

Lets break that down-

"racist"- The resident liberals here use the national tactic on PFA- Any disagreeable topic that includes race is "racist" if you dont agree with them.

I purposely newer use this board supplied graphic as its just not my style. Any other "homophobic" posts or material by me- I just dont think there has been any. If so, we would have heard about it.

I find that hard to believe and think youre just throwing that on here to shift the conversation. When I first started posting here sonatine trolled every post I made. He trolled me in every thread. His libtard friends jumped in to help him. I hit them back as hard as I could. And when Druff jumped in it was always to save his friend sonatine.

Then Boz went after sonatine the way sonatine went after me, hot and heavy. I have to admit Boz is better at it than I am. Tine tried to keep up with Boz but got blown out of the water. Boz destroyed him. So he put Boz on ignore. And he said so.

Isn’t that on Druff for not making a decision to close the site and distance himself from it? Maybe it’s too late but like everything else in life, it’s his choice. Maybe this site is more important to him and he feels the consequences come with the territory.

As for Bart Hanson, he isn’t gone, just mention Covid and little vax boy will show up.

I don't know or care about Micon's analysis, but I did enjoy the one time I got to do it.

It was in 2009, at the $10k Limit Holdem WSOP final table. Poor Chad Brown (RIP) lost with the ace high flush to Greg Mueller's straight flush, in a pivotal hand. Mueller ended up winning it.

I was doing the color commentary, and really enjoyed it. It took 10 hours, but flew by. I took no breaks other than when the action at the table stopped.

When I was in the bathroom, a Rio employee accidentally opened the door too aggressively as I was reaching for the handle to go out, and it slammed my hand hard and made a huge, deep cut. It was bleeding worse than any cut I ever had, but I didn't want to quit the broadcast because of it. I tried to go to security to get band-aids, but they didn't want to give me them unless I filled out a report. I declined to fill out a report because I didn't want the guy getting in trouble for a freak accident. Finally they gave me like 3 band-aids, but the bleeding was so bad that they were soaked within a short time.

I went back to continue broadcasting, and my broadcast partner (Bernard Lee, whom I had never met before) couldn't believe what he was seeing. I asked if someone in the ESPN room could just get me more band-aids and something to wrap my hand, and they agreed and did so. In the meantime, I kept on broadcasting. Bernard quietly asked me at one point, "Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital? This looks like it might be serious", but I told him I'd just wrap it and deal with it later. He wasn't grossed out or anything, just concerned and surprised I wasn't quitting to go tend to this.

I really, really didn't want to quit. I knew NWP's reputation and didn't know when I'd get this chance again, if ever.

It took about an hour, but the bleeding stopped. I kept broadcasting the entire time as if nothing had happened.

My dad, who knows a little about poker but has never played, watched the entire thing and complimented me. He said he was very impressed how clear my strategy explanations were, and how correctly I was predicting the action. But that was my dad, so it's not like he was unbiased, and he also wasn't a poker expert by any means.

When I next played limit holdem at Bellagio, Chris Vitch (DeathDonkey) happened to be next to me. He said, "I really liked your commentary during the event. It was nice to finally listen to someone during a limit holdem broadcast who knows what they're talking about."

That was high praise coming from an accomplished player like him, and it felt good.

It's been 16 years and I've never done any further final table broadcasts. To be fair, I haven't tried, but I also haven't been invited without trying. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with this site, and also some of it has to do with my general outspoken nature which has made some people not care for me. Normally I don't care whether I'm part of any "cool crowd" in poker or anywhere else, but I do admit that I wish I could have broadcasted more final tables.
