Limon Calls Todd a Simpleton. Discuss

My first ever encounter with Limon was on his now-defunct "Pokersesh" show, where he was talking about the nosebleed (super high limit) games online. I forget why it was a topic that week, but I called in to give my thoughts on the matter, and explained why these sites ran nosebleed games.

My point was that the nosebleed games were an attention-grabber -- a way to make the average player want to open the site, watch the huge action, and aspire to run up their roll to be like those guys.

Limon disagreed, using the most absurd of absurd logic.

"It's about the rake," he responded.

At first I thought he meant that it was about raking the players who would watch the nosebleeds and then grind lower stakes themselves, but no, he meant the nosebleed games rake. He actually thought that the $5 rake per hand at very low volume was the reason these sites put out a lot of effort to get the nosebleed games going.

I tried over and over to explain how this made no sense -- how the capped $5 rake in these games made almost nothing for the site, given the very low volume of total hands played at those stakes. In fact, the cost of getting mass money on and off the site for these games dwarfed whatever they'd take in via that piddling amount of rake.

The idiot responded to me that payment processing costs very little (lol), and that they're making huge money on the rake of the nosebleed games.

When I tried to explain the whole thing rationally, he kept drunkenly shouting over me, and then just hung up on me in the middle of a word, declaring victory in the argument.

That's the profound type of stuff you'll learn from Limon.

I have not got through all of the #2000 thread I will drop a link to, but I have read most of these 2 threads and I thought he gives very interesting and good advice that could benefit a lot of young guys who think poker is a good career path.

Not sure disputes you have personally had with him on the past and like I said I don't follow his social media political discussion, I really don't know much about him other than the threads I found randomly.

I have listened to some interviews with him on YouTube since then and agree with you that a lot of times on camera/mic he shouts too much and I find it unappealing.

But I did find the threads to be full of genius, particularly identifying poker as a "soft hustle" and that the smartest people turn their poker grind into something bigger

I don't think you are able to give an unbiased perspective on him as you two seem to have some longstanding beef

I didn't read that thread. I have no interest. I searched out the part where he discussed me.

As I said, the advice he gives comes from common sense observations anyone would make after decades in poker. I don't even disagree with the advice. On poker issues we often come down on the same side, especially when it comes to the impression of the shady people in the poker community. I'm just saying that nothing he utters or writes is particularly profound or sophisticated.

His "smartest people turn their poker grind into something bigger" line is just a soft brag. He lucked into an association with Live at the Bike, which made him good money, and then somehow got himself that gig at Commerce running a private game for a piece of the rake. Bless him for finding these income streams which don't require the risk and variance of poker play, but as I said, his Commerce situation requires him to hang around there all day, several days a week. Zero chance I'd ever be interested in that, especially if not playing.

In the thread he brags endlessly about setting his own hours and spending as little time at casino as possible

Perhaps because those opportunities came to him, his advice on how to make those things happen is valuable

It's nonsense. Every time I'm at Commerce during the day on a weekday, he's there milling around.

Limon's thread on Two Plus Two is entertaining and insightful. It's a good read. Limon writes much better than he speaks. When he speaks (usually drunkenly) it is grating, loud, and way too much. He postures as a smart guy but he's just an unsophisticated old hustler who scratches by via leeching off the LA gaming structure. First attaches himself to Live at the Bike, now gets a piece of the Commerce "home game" rake. Not exactly high level stuff, and the guy is stuck hanging around Commerce drinking by himself all day. I've seen it personally. Better than working a 9-to-5 job you hate, but not by much.

He can't debate any complex political topics, so he resorts to one-liners and insults when you're too much for him.

The people impressed by Limon are the ones who don't realize he's just an older dude ingrained in the LA gambling scene for decades, and therefore has seen what works and doesn't work for people. Not a deep thinker by any stretch of the imagination.

Limon clearly had zero concept. The rake by pct is miniscule at those massively high stakes compared to micros which can hit as high as $2 on some of the microstakes range. Additionally, those nosebleed games arent running a ton of tables because it was a very small 0.1% who could afford them.

If it was about rake sites make much more per hour and daily on small stakes due to sheer volume which is better 100 tables generating $2 a hand rake at 60 hands an hour (2x60x100=$12000) vs 10 tables with a $5 rake cap $3000 max and most nosebleeds dont play 60 hands an hour but Im being generous.

Did you read the thread? It was very well regarded by the audience, the other thread I linked from the past has like 100 pages of content, people loved it.

I understand Druff hates Limon and refuses to accept that he could have a wise though, but believe it or not, he produces solid written content.

I agree with this. The thread over there is amusing/interesting. On the other hand, Limon is unlistenable on video/audio. Limon does better when his words are restricted.

Also, Druff and Limon are getting pretty vicious with each other on Two Plus Two. That thread is even better now.
