Talent can always be recognized as talent. I don't like Rap, but common sense tells me that Ice Cube is better than Little Wayne. I don't like Country, but could tell you with near certainty that Garth Brooks is better than Billy Ray Cyrus.

I obviously know the answer to my own question. It was more of an open question to STP "speaking the truth" without directly questioning HIM.
These new rules have me all conscious of how I debate on here, and I stopped smoking weed three days ago, so I am on a rampage...
But again, isn't that just an opinion? I bet I could find millions of people who would disagree with you. I don't think it would make either of you correct. Some people can rap with deep meaning and crazy rhyme schemes, and some people are just rapping simple words together, but I don't know how you judge who is "more talented"
Some people just like the sound of a certain voice, or a certain beat. Wouldn't that be included in talent?
Don't worry. As you mature your music tastes and appreciation will also mature.
That doesn't surprise me at all. RATM band members have made millions of dollars from millions of naive young fans.
I'm sorry I hurt your feelings but I'm encouraged that you're a teenager who actually reads.
How quickly? Did you time this cognitive exercise?
Sorry but you're wrong. Some of Bruce Springsteen's music conveys an anti-establishment message but I believe he is very talented.
I just don't think RATM is a good band.
I will admit that their socialist, anti-capitalist and spit-on-America message is laughably absurd and hypocritical. RATM is a multi-million dollar enterprise that partners with some of the largest corporations in the music industry. RATM is corporate America! Eventually you will grasp this.
Naive teenagers like you keep buying RATM/Che T-shirts, concert tickets and music while the RATM band members laugh at you as they sip champagne poolside.
My my....and Druff just cleaned up this thread.
Don't become so upset. In my earlier posts I was just being honest and truthful about an overrated band.
Not IMO. There are plenty of acts you or I have probably never heard of in the Rock and Roll HOF.

We've all heard of someone like Nickelback(lol) or Sum 41(bigger lol), but I don't think you'll be seeing them there any time soon because it is generally accepted that they lack the talent to be there. Popular? Yes. Talented? No. There will always be debates, but from my perspective, talent is always recognizable.
