Those glaciers started receding in the 1850s because that was the end of the "Little Ice Age". It was a natural fluctuation that happens all the time. Then in the 20th century, anthropogenic climate change started picking up.

If such a scientist (or team) were able to develop a rock-solid climate model that refutes man-made global warming that is subsequental supported by irrefutable empirical results, the creator(s) of that new climate model would end up being awarded some kind of Nobel Prize. This is so because of the huge economic and political long-term implications that humanity faces given man-made global warming is true.

In fact, good new models that successfully challenge the extant scientific paradigm in a field end up generating much more funding opportunities for research because those new models usually end up generating completely new interesting questions. So the oft-peddled-by-climate-change-deniers that further evidence in support of the paradigm of man-made global warming generates research job security is utterly bogus. But folks who don't personally have experience working as an academic researcher wouldn't likely understand this aspect of the biz.
